Everyone that has ever used a baler, is an experienced baler breaker. I think they were designed to break.

Balers only break when you have 750 "small stupids" ready to be baled and there is rain in the forcast for that evening.....and did I mention balers only break at or after 4:30 pm. (Chore time)

So tonight my children have "Blessing of the Animals" as a part of their religion program at church. For the past 2 or 3 years they would go find a barn cat at Grandpa's and bring it to be "Blessed with Good Health". Low and behold something would always happen to the cat and it would die within a few months after it was blessed. So last night my son was walking around the chicken coop asking,
"Mom, any chance you want to get rid of any more chickens?"
"Not really why?"
"Well Tomorrow is blessing of the animals, and you know our record is not so good."

Square? Do you guys raise cattle or horses? We have lots of experience with breaking balers!

My dad's family homestead is about 2 hours north of me. We've managed to keep it in the family. Cattle ranch, about 6400 acres, half deeded half BLM lease.
It will only keep 130 head of cattle, however. Huge difference in climate between you all and us in eastern/central Montana.
Oh and yes, there are horses too, but we don't actively breed them for anything but replacement saddle horses when we need them, or we go to the stock yards.

Here's my dad's poor old baler. It broke( it does every year) but couldn't get parts in time this year. Gets harder to find bits you need!

I get to do a chicken showmanship demonstration on the 15th for the 4H group! Yay!
I am taking BM-1 hopefully he behaves as I haven't handled him in months.

BC I was thinking and I bet that someone would be selling some Salmon Faverolles at Hutch?

I bet there would be holms. I'm thinking hatching eggs for the school project next spring. That way there are homes for those babies. And I don't have to coop them through the winter. I'll see if I have winter losses this year or not as well.

Layers funny you should say this. As all mornings go getting teenagers out the door for the bus...it's chaotic and DD is a furnace and never grabs a coat unless I say or it's December. She just doesn't usually feel it I dont think. LOL. Today we pull up to the bus stop and I see her get out of my car with a small t-shirt on. The school has signed me up for 'Mother of the Year' I just know it!

Chickens in MN either have lots of fluff or go to extremes to stay warm... Such has sleeping on a cat...

Layers funny you should say this. As all mornings go getting teenagers out the door for the bus...it's chaotic and DD is a furnace and never grabs a coat unless I say or it's December. She just doesn't usually feel it I dont think. LOL. Today we pull up to the bus stop and I see her get out of my car with a small t-shirt on. The school has signed me up for 'Mother of the Year' I just know it!

I never take a coat to school til December either, granted I usually don't ride the bus til Decmeber either!
I usually wear a coat for chores, never know what you will be doing. Even though my coat is just a windbreaker, and its zipper doesn't work. No wonder I always come in cold


I am pretty excited, band is pretty boring, I have been playing trumpet for 7 years now. It is really not much of a challenge anymore, and it has gotten to easy. So today while the JH was NWEA testing, all of us HSers, about 18 of us. We notice that our best percusionist, who just moved here this year, is not here, band teacher announces he moved. So we were short a percussionist 2 weeks before the concert. So in some full sections, flutes and trumpets, she let some of the kids try out for his parts. While they were doing that the subject of trombones came up, we have 1 VERY good player, and one kid who just sits there. So I kind of jokingly said I would learn trombone. The band teacher looks at me and says "Can you read bass cleff?", I said "Yes" and she says "Thats not a bad idea! Only downside is that during pep band you will be switching back and forth, which will take some getting used to but you would be fine". So we talked about it for a little while and i think we are going to try it. I am pretty excited as trombone is so cool!

Nice! When play trombone the dog starts throwing a fit! I'm sure you'll do great!
