Surviving Minnesota!

Considering we keep these guys in a drafty I heated coop I am pretty darn happy with the combs. The Orp looks like he has bad frostbite but it's just a small layer of scab and still fleshy underneath. The Cochins comb looks pretty darn good though! I didn't even put anything on their combs as I figured I was just wasting my time and I should just let whatever is going to happen happen.

(Notice the Orp Rooster escaped during cage cleaning and ripped his wattle in a fight!:rant)

I added some extra straw to the Cochins this evening. I cleaned out the coop and gave the layers some straw in a few spots. I am supposed to go to a 4H council meeting tomorrow but they are calling for 40mph winds and snow I will see tomorrow

I added some straw to cages too... We are going to have the same weather but I have a dog training thingy and then a church thingy...

We re expecting 2-4 inches tomorrow night tapering off by noon Thursday. Deep freeze for the weekend until the next Thursday then some 20’s again.

I’ll get my coop cleaned out of frozen poop and add straw and bedding too. Get it just right for this new artic blast coming.
