Surviving Minnesota!

Well I pulled 3 eggs out of the coop today. A small one on the floor and two normal sized ones in the nesting box. I think it's safe to say all 3 hens are now laying. I'm guessing that small one was a first egg for one of the ladies.

I didn't realize each chicken would have unique eggs. Or at least I'm assuming that the sort of darker ones are from a single chicken and the really even colored lighter ones are from another hen. Now if I could see which hen was which ...

So many things to correct this morning.....

1) BC did not win the first post award today MnChickMom did. As keeper of the rules, I have to remind you we have a 4am starting time on Morning posts. Otherwise some people cheat and post then go to bed. BTW the cheaters seem to be from foreign countries like Canada or Missouri all the time.

2)We have nosseums so small with teeth so large in Togo they remove up to a pound of flesh with each bite.

3) Black flies are those "black colored" flies that are smaller than a house fly and eat around a 1/2 pound of flesh when they bite. Which they do repeatedly while I am fishing. Rule of thumb, the better the fishing the more the black flies bite.View attachment 1244518

4) Thank you EJB! I am glad to see you are concerned about the shoveling I have to do. I have decided though to forgo shoveling this storm. Even though I have so much snow it would close school for a month in Memphis Tn or Springfield Mo. In some places I have accumulations of nearly a quarter of an inch from yesterday.

5) Holm, Please treat my crappies with more care, I expect them to lie in a clean box and not just thrown on the ice like garbage......The size looks good though!

6) under the new fishing rules there is no such thing as too small of a northern. I believe the 10 have to be under 22 inches, (could be less not sure) and then only one or two over 27 or 28 something like that. They did put an exception in for spearing I think you get one or two in that slot as long as you have so many under it. All I know is I am going to have a hard time measuring the northern before I spear him. I suppose I could practice catch and release with the speared ones.

7) the DNR says by removing the northerns the other fish Mainly sunnies and crappies will be larger and more numerous. I tend to disagree as most the lakes I fish have far too many small sunnies and no big ones.

A lot of corrections required today, try to do better folks! I cannot continue to be your fact finder forever......You would think with the errors posted today we were turning into a third world country like the VWN or Missouri.View attachment 1244515

Now wait just a dog gone minute here. . .third world country! That's a harsh
Thing to say about us Missourians. :tongue

It will not make a difference or noticeable one. I have done similar things and they always work out, except I never move them back. I just leave them be.

I wish I could attend the class, I might learn something. I have to be in Blue Earth at 11am for the funeral of one of my best friends/ retired trooper. Then I have to be back in Foley at 6pm.
Sorry to hear that. That's no good. :hugs

I have never caught a bass through the ice. That is amazing. I have seen a bass come through the ice after being force fed with a spear (I DID NOT DO IT). I use to see them in the spear holes but just never seen one bite......Do you mind of we check your bass for holes?

I need to put in another claim Holm. Your cat ruined a game bird net tonight. One of the pieces got wrapped into the netting and was stuck right tight----except for the part with teeth and claws.

I had to use 2 pairs of leather gloves to hold her head down and feet away from me while I cut my netting to let her out.

You owe me for the net it ruined. She is not a friendly kitten at all. She even tried to bite me when I turned her loose.

I know it is late but I have been busy tonight and am just getting to bed now. I will not be in the competition for the first post of the morning. Also had a coffee at around 6PM. not a smart move.

I got two eggs from my layer flock today. I am amazed. Both were olive eggs.

Ralphie I'm pretty sure that kitten was just wanting to give you a hug and kiss for setting it free from the net.

uh huh..

A normal cat would, but I got this cat from Holm's the crooked used cat salesman.......It was part of GC before she broke into pieces.....

Speaking of GC...I think she has a restraining order out on OC. OC is still living in the partially collapsed tent outside. When I go out he runs to me crying and whining, I assume about GC's treatment of him.

OC then runs to the pole barn and goes inside with me and stays in there with me. He eats his nibbles and bits and follows me around. When I leave the barn so does he and goes back to his tent.

I am fairly sure this is do to GC's fragile condition. I felt her belly the other day and am pretty sure a cat splitting is in the near future.

Inquiring minds wanna know what do the names gc and oc stand for?
