Every one is talking about snow.. I saw the weirdest looking snow flake. Cant seem to figure on why there would be a single snowflake where I saw it. And the dang thing makes noise

That being said on my honor I swear if buy chickens from you guys i will never sell them. They are pets/pests depending on the day and will be the best friends of the 5 yr old

Well, that was a wreck. DD got home from school. Checked on Broody. Saw an egg was broken. Rats.

We decided to move her. I took an empty Coors Light box and cut down a side. We filled it with shavings and hay much like the other nesting boxes and put it in the opposite side of the coop from the area that gets the most traffic.

I took the eggs from under her and moved them into the box. I picked up Broody, placed her on the ground in front of box, facing the eggs. She didn't find them. Rather, after a couple of minutes in a haze, went back to the 3 nesting looking all over for them. Then she came out and sounded the alarm that they were missing.

So I quick put up a little fence in the coop to keep her in that area. Placed her back in it. After 15 minutes of all of them freaking out, I got it down, moved the 3 eggs back to the left nesting box (that I wished I'd done earlier today) and she found them and sat right away.

Hope I didn't break her and hope they didn't get too cold. Down to 3.

This snow event is a bust ( so far). While we have been getting some snow, it appears to be melting. I assume this is because of the 65-75 degree temps we have been enjoying here in the banana belt this spring and the ground is just too warm for snow to stay.

The winds are a tad heavy and gusty, I am thinking this would be a great kite flying day.

Rain in the area . Missed me so far but we will get some . So I did some gutter repair / maintenance today .

I just took this about 10 seconds ago. I still have grass in my front yard and to my west.

I was out and collected eggs and it is not bad out. There were some of those dippin dot ice cream pellets but not too many...Pearl decided to stay out and sit on the ground instead of coming in the house.

I also did a quick shift of a bird when I was in the barn. I have had about 8-9 cockerels running around in there most of the winter. I had 2 toads that hatched on Oct 10th, one is the cockerel Holm has fallen in love with, the other was a pullet.

She must have come of age, I noticed her head was a tad bloody and some feathers were missing from the back of her head.

I assume the 8-9 boys decided to play rough with her. So I moved her in with the Jan 5th hatch that Ed has been babysitting. Ed looked at her and went and stood by her, but he is so gentle I doubt he will do anything but protect her.

I wish ever rooster I had would behave like Ed does. He babysits, and is good to the girls, he has never once even looked like he wanted to come at me. If I pick him up, he lets me know he prefers to be left alone but doesn't fight of peck.

He has spurs over 3 inches long so he could do damage, but he takes after me and is gentle natured.
