Surviving Minnesota!

I was just going to build cages but my mom loved the people at the Keipper stand and she loved the cages so she bout two sets.. We plan on getting 2-3 sets again this fall..

Armadillos?!? I thought they were more of a warm climate southern critter! But then, we have opossums now when we never did, so why not armadillos in ND?
There were a lot of confused people this morning! There are 2 theories as to how more then 5 have been found in town this year. First one is someone from the railroad is bringing them, or they are hitching a ride on the train. Second one is someone in town had some as pets and is letting them go. First theory has some flaws such has the trains run east and west, so somewhere it could meet up with a train coming from the south which is where the chances of someone on the train is bringing them is higher. Whole situation is weird, it will be interesting to see what they find out

You'll have to share when you do find out. The theory on the possums getting here is that they may have come in shipped hay bales at some time or another.

Hey they found an alligator in cass county last year.

Ed we had a bobcat here. Visual was made. Makes sense on the forced hardware cloth and popped nails. Little heavier than a fox.

Wednesday Louie laid down in the dog kennel at roost time. I picked him up and he had a fit. Jumped out of my arms. Got him again. He bit me in the arm. ( I had on red flannel) Then as I put his yellow fluff in the coop I heard him breathing heavy. I think he aspirated crop contents. Next day he hadn’t cleared and was opening closing his beak and not eating by the time I got home. Roost time he was no where to be found. After work the next day I found him dead in some thorny brush. No predator issue. I think he just couldn’t clear that aspiration. And I think he was fearful of being attacked again and broken hearted without Lola and miles. Heavy hits this week. All my new birds dead. Good gravy.:(

I’ve got 7 hens left again. Perfect for winter really.

I won’t get a rooster and I doubt I’ll add to this flock. Predators have figured us out . Not fair to the birds or preds.

Ed, DS is taking ornithology this year and he’ll be in your back yard on a field trip Monday.

I am done to under 20 hens!!! I need to process roosters but they need to wait until nov 7th.

Btw Fred I did not get the farm bureau endorsement... bums me out a tad.
I'm sorry to hear that, Ralphie. I hope you feel that it was at least a fair discussion or debate.
