Surviving Minnesota!

If one allowed their flock of chickens, turkeys or etc. to roost randomly in the rafters of the barn you would have an even larger mess.

.

Even at my advanced age, I have learned turkeys and rooster roosting at random in the rafters of a shed is not a good idea.....

In addition, turkeys behave like pack rats, stealing anything left setting for a few minutes, they will move to where they want it.

I am still short one glove from about 8 weeks ago. I had taken them off for only a few minutes and they were gone. I found one a few weeks ago, they other is still missing.

Also turkeys are not as smart as pigeons. I have one Tom that wants to be with the hen in one of the pens. The pens are all covered with bird netting. The Tom walks around and basically lives on the bird netting over the cage of the hen he pines for.

Incase any of you need to know this, a Tom walking on bird netting all day long will stretch it, I now have to duck to walk into that pen. I will be forced to tighten and re-connect the bird netting do to the stupid turkey.

BTW next year the turkeys will not get free run of the entire shed or the rafters, even if I have to hang bird netting from the rafters to keep them out of it. I made roosts for the turkeys. They are not happy with being 6 ft in the air when they can be 18 ft up.....Also several have extremely good aim when I walk under them.
