Surviving Minnesota!

Late, but in case... @duluthralphie , I don’t know what grafting paste is made of, but you tried alcohol and it didn’t touch it, so it must not be an acrylic polymer. I’d try Dawn liquid and if that doesn’t do it, oil—whatever kind you have; rub it in well, give it a minute and scrape with a fresh razor blade. Repeat. You could also try that goo-gone stuff, but I’ve never been impressed. Most other solvents I can think of would take the finish off. Well, vinegar probably wouldn’t, but I doubt vinegar would work. You never know, tho.

And of COURSE @holm25 can’t eat that bird. It could be a million dollar pigeon for all anybody knows!:old

Ralphie, when pruning branches from trees one should not cover the wound with anything. The days of treating with some type of wound sealer are gone. Don't leave any stubs but prune at the branch collar.
This method eliminates the possibility of damaging other items with the wound sealer.
Oops..

It is or was 32 when I last looked... sunny again.. I hope it got cold enough for the sap to flow today...

I ordered root stock yesterday out of Michigan. M111... 25 of them.. I also took some scions off another dying apple tree. A Harrelson. I hope they are not dying scions and not too late to clip. The buds looked good, but a couple may have started to puff up..

Also has anyone made tree syrup before? I am getting sugar sand in mine.. I am curious what I am doing wrong?

My brother makes syrup, he said that's normal nothing you can do about it, just use a pre filter before cooking.

My dad and I went and checked again at 9:30 last night and water was starting to creep up on the road. This is what it was like this morning.
