Surviving Minnesota!

A long time ago, I struck up a conversation at the bar with a guy who knew a guy (therefore, about 34% true) who caught on his game cam a family of coons strategically cornering his chickens in their outdoor run and having at them through the fencing.

Mean little buggers.

I have coons around me, but they come out after dark and so are rarely seen. I believe that with all the other predators the young have a very low survival rate.
Porcupines are bad news. The veterinarians love them. Have you ever watched the Dr. Pol show on TV? On top of that problem they do much damage in the forest to many varieties of trees.
I love Eagles and Turkey Vultures (sorry Ralphie). They chase the hawks off and I have never had an Eagle or a Vulture bother my birds.

Your eagles must be better trained than mine... I have never had a problem with a Vulture.

Otherwise we still sort of, once in a while, mainly agree...

he is just in another tree waiting for you to get cold and go inside..

He could have been but I looked all around for him. This time of the year my chickens outdoor range runs from their coop to the deck and that is about it. They are never more than 10 feet from cover.

I am thinking you are giving the guy 30% to much credit for accuracy. Not that I do not agree they are mean little buggers..

Klop..."we" is defined as the whole city of Memphis. Each of you individually probably own more snow removal equipment than all of West Tennessee. Mind you, not one flake has fallen, but our governor just issued a State of Emergency for the whole of Tennessee.

We are at that weird temperature, 32-35 degrees, where we are expecting ice then 3-6 inches of snow. They are predicting 40-50 mph winds. And tornadoes south of us.

So our 6 new plow attachments ought to have it cleared up pretty quickly. ..right? :lau

It's just funny reading about how ya'll handle snow compared to what happens here!

I bet it is hilarious to read about our snow adventures. We go out in it to play. Then, of course, we are happy if it is light, flaky stuff like we just had and sad, or mad, if it is heavy and wet. Still, considering it a workout. Light - light workout - heavy - heavy workout and then it takes a little longer. Tennessee is such a beautiful state! Simply gorgeous1
