I did not realize that it stormed. or Rained. And I was up until 4 this morning. Not sleeping. I saw a full bright moon most of the night. Then when I did the chickens this morning it was Sunny and the rubber bowls were plump full of water. What the Hades....

There was a small place that did them for $1/bird when I lived in Michigan, but that was about 15 years ago. I guess it would depend on how many. I'd happily pay $3/bird, but I can butcher no problem. Maybe those who can't stomach it would pay more.

If you were to have someone butcher your chickens for you, What would you be willing to pay?

I saw a butcher thread on here from 2007. 12 years ago somewhere in Ohio they were getting 2-3 per bird. $5 for Turkeys.

So with 12 years of inflation. $3-4?

Thanks for all the prompt responses. We found someone who will do the deed for $3.75 per bird and he is local. We have never utilized a processor. What should I look out for? We are capable of processing but we are limited on time during this fair season.....and quite honestly I am tired of the behaviors of some of the young teenage males.

We got a lot of noise but mostly dodged the storm. We finally managed to get roofers out (today, surprise!!!) after the storms last year that we didn’t manage to dodge.

If you were to have someone butcher your chickens for you, What would you be willing to pay?

Butchering chickens is really hard work though I think it’ll get easier as I do more. I’d want five dollars a bird, but I’d continue doing it myself before I’d pay that. Also I don’t want my birds to suffer more than can be avoided. I’m able to pull their tractor right up to my processing area so they’re comfortable right up to the moment of slaughter. That’s also a consideration for me.

$4, but I don't trust other people to be as fast and accurate as I know I can be.

Maybe offer them some of the butchered chickens rather than paying them, that is what most people around here do when it comes to butchering any kind of animal. But I have seen anywhere from $3-$6 being charged
