Surviving Minnesota!

I tapped a few trees today. Only one, a silver maple was running well.

Another silver does not appear to have started yet.

The reds and 5 leaf maples do not appear to have started yet. The wood was damp and mushy in the 5 leaf. The red appeared dry still.

Ralphie, you are right about equipment problems due to aging and poor choices in youth. After my football injuries I continued to participate in competitive sports way too long.
As relates to gout, I have had it in both feet at the same time. That puts walking in the painful category. Dr. prescribed medication to relieve pain. I don't like taking drugs, and so after many years the bottle is still full. thankfully the gout and my arthritis comes and goes and is generally not a big problem unless one would like to be able to sleep.

Got to 51 sunny and windy day . I managed to work outside for over 4 hours . Love being outside . Knees are improving but now my middle knuckle on left hand ring finger hurts . Gout I guess . Getting old is not fun sometimes . I have increased my gout med , CBD cream , aleave and a supplement . Throwing everything at it . Oh lemon water and tart cherry juice . Not giving up .

Morning . Yesterday I cleared brush to get a log out . Let the beagle come along . He likes to steal my water bottle and gloves to play . Sammy our little dog does not like loud noise so he did not come . Another nice day ahead .

Its Sunny out. That's about it. I have to be Nancy Kerrigan to get to the office door from my car and then back again. It's been a slow melt. Which is okay too. Slow melts are easier for Mud season.
Trying to get doctoring, chiropracting (me and kids), vetting all done before the busy summer season. Sadie will need her Bravecto before the ticks climb on board. I saw a photo from SE MN of a tick nymph on a friend's finger: plucked off her Aussie.

Tonight is more Girls BB. This is the Section Semi Final. If we advance Final is Friday. Another busy week. Neutral gym is 1 hour 45 minutes away. Pennance for living in God's country I guess. ;)

Chickens are good. I ran out of scratch and they've been getting a wild bird mix (10 lb bag from grocery store) with lots of millet and sunflower seeds in it. Maybe some other nut and fruit items. hamburger fat, spinach. Boiled cabbage dinner. Such brats. I did go ahead and sell about 9 dozen stock piled eggs earlier this week. Those Newbies I added last year are really exercising their ovaries. They do not want to leave the run either. Ice and snow are no friends to Patsy Kline, Edith, Sunny Two and Sentry . I dont have a Kristi Yamaguchi.

Semi nice day.
Sun is out. I finished cleaning and disinfecting maple syrup stuff, other than the two totes I got in Gilman yesterday.

I need to go tap more trees now, but they aren’t r flowing much yet.

I have one turkey hen that’s broody. She is trying to hatch a golf ball and a light bulb.

Nothing else going on here..
