Surviving Minnesota!

I wouldn't mind going down and picking one up. But DH told me that he doesn't like pork that much. (he must have forgot about bacon and ham.) Beef has been expensive and we've been eating through the deer that I do sometimes find I'm buying too many pork loins or pork chops. DH starts to complain...if I get on that roll.

I will make a lot of sausage, hotdogs, polish and stuff.

I am thinking of buying a couple cows, or sneaking out to the black hills and finding some needing rescuing.

Morning . I hear crappie are starting to spawn here . Too busy to fish now . Grass needs mowed . Car repair to do . Lumber to mill . I repaired my brother in laws 3 wheel bike yesterday . He has no mechanical skills . He is book smart and does not drive . So a bike is his grocery getter . Need to make time to hunt mushrooms . I have a couple of plum tree grafts growing . Sowed some more wildflower seeds . I am trying to get a bantam to set . She has 7 eggs but not broody yet .

A neighbor reported on his success as he and a friend hit a hot spot of spawning Crappies on Wednesday. I believe that he said they got 30 that were all 12" to 13" long.

RALPHIE, IN MY EXPERIENCE ONE MUST FEED PIGS A VERY GOOD RATION TO KEEP THEM GROWING RAPIDLY TO SLAUGHTER. YOU WANT THAT WHOLE ENDEAVOR OVER BEFORE THE SNOW FLIES I WOULD THINK ?
THERE ARE FEW THINGS IF ANY BETTER THAN AQUALITY PORKCHOP PREPARED PROPERLY IN MY OPINION. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO EAT THEM DAILY FOR AN EXTENDED TIME I SUSPECT.
I AM LESS THAN COMPLETELY ENTHUSED ABOUT RAISING THEM HOWEVER. ONCE WAS ENOUGH FOR ME.
CHICKENS ARE EASIER TO CARE FOR, AND ONE DOES NOT LOSE AS MUCH IF A BEAR EATS ONE COMPARED TO IT EATING A PIG.
YOU HAVE NOT MENTIONED WHAT SAINT JUDY THINKS OF YOUR LATEST ANIMAL HUSBANDRY PROJECT ?
