Surviving Minnesota!

Sounds good . I was told I had to be licensed but I looked it up on line and the owner can do his own .

The trick is getting someone to draw up the plans.. I could not find anyone to do that. ANd even if you draw them up identical to what a "sewer installer" does they will not even look at them.. And the catch 22 is the only way you can be a sewer installer is to have an existing sewer installer sign you up for a license. So they get to pick who is their competitor, and most of them prefer it be no one..

Some use food coloring in the vent area . Leaves a streak of color on the egg . Does not last long ..I usually put 1 hen at a time in a cage or carrier for the day . Once I get her egg then I release her . If they are new layers check the vent for signs of laying . Large moist opening .

I am sorry, but I cannot get the picture of Kloppers applying lipstick to his hens butt........ It is a priceless picture.

@jerryse I used the same guy for both septics. Other family members of mine have used him as well. I can give you his name if you would like. Not sure what his area of coverage is. I really like him and he is honest which can be hard to come by these days. Just PM me if interested.

Kloppers only one of the three CX eggs I have in the house is rough, None have any spots.

My egg is most like the Rhode Island Red egg.. not quite buy close.

cool picture.

I may just try putting her in a dog crate during the day then letting her out at night so I can at least confirm what her eggs look like. I would feel bad doing that for too many days in a row to get enough eggs to set. I guess I don't even know if she is getting fertilized. Buck is in with 26 hens I think so I doubt every hen is getting attention. I was hoping to get a small number of eggs (6-10 maybe) to set without having to make up some special breeding pen.

When we did the septic test before a shed permit we had a very flexible guy who offered to information about how you could put in a holding tank and add the field later . I think he might do it . It is probably 2-3 years away . I think he realized I was a do it yourself kind of guy . Figured he could at least get some work in the end . I liked that . Yes I will have to have a mound .

Most of us around here have this aweful clay around here surrounded by lowlands or a lake nearby...and we have a mound as well.

Just emailed DH and he suggested somebody. Hard working. Honest. Fun guy. You'll like him. I'll PM his name to you.
