Yes, and safer.
While safety is a concern the cost of running a 250w heat lamp versus a heating pad is the big thing for me.
As best I can tell it is 60w for the heating pad when it is on high, lower settings are less. It does not say for sure. I looked online for it.
The other thing I like is it gets the birds into a normal day and night cycle instead of 24 hour light.
