I am hoping to join the Orrock Farmers Market...

I would guess the dues would be low enough I could afford them on my pitiful retirement..

I have no idea when it starts here, but the dues make it too expensive for my few items to sell.

They are around $250 a year and they do not let you split it with another person or rent weekly.


My Brother is President of a Farmer Market in NC and they only charge $65 a year and they let people split the dues with others as long as only one person shows a week for that spot.

Once every other week would be perfect for me. BUT the $275 just takes too much profit out of the little I sell in a year.

It might be a fun day trip to travel down to buy your plants Klops. Where would I be going? What if I wanted to come the weekend of April 23rd because I leave for AZ April 30th and don't get back until May 7th.
ORRRRRR - Maybe my friend and I could stop by on our way back from South Dakota on that Saturday. That would work out. Where is your farmers market?

Here is a tip for you cheap errr ughh frugal gardeners . I am one also . Buy the first tomato and pepper plants available . Pot them into bigger pots . Take cuttings to increase your plants . They root easily . Plant the cuttings in pots or cups . Keep in shade and warm . Tomatoes will perk up in a week or less . That means roots have started . Peppers take a little longer . The donor plant will send up new shoots from leaf nodes . They catch up with each other fast . You can easily double your plants and save $ .

Oh my that would be so great!

I have thought about trying to start a township one just to get away from the high fees. BUT Orrock is not really a high traffic area.

That is an excellent suggestion.

Most people don't know that most plants you buy are started from cuttings and not seeds.

I repotted a few tomatoes I cut when I thinned my trays down. I would do more but I already have so many I am running out of lighted space

Jerry, you have given a very good secret away to the uninformed plant lovers. It is a good way to save time and money.
By the way, this is no April fools joke. It is snowing quite enthusiastically here, about 1/2 inch and piling up. Ralphie send some of that Banana Belt weather up here!!
This prolonged winter weather is bovine schieze as far as I am concerned!!

I have a problem with a weasel, and thus far have not caught him. The last time I had a problem with one he made the mistake of going into the garage. I waited for him to come out, and when he did I blasted him with a 12 guage. Luckily no pellets ricocheted into my wife's Escalade, or I would not be around to tell about this episode. Even so she thought it poor judgment to shoot onto the concrete in front of her vehicle. I told her no fowl no harm.
