Surviving Minnesota!

Well we SLAYED the fish tonight. Caught 21 Crappies, 8 pike and lots of Sunfish but only kept 1. Cleaned lots of fish. There were four of us so we did pretty good. We went out at 2:30 pm and didnt catch much until 5. And got home at 6:30.

I taught a very good friend how to cross country ski today. She started off a little rough but about 2 miles in she got the hang of it and we did a 5 mile run.

Then I harped on DH and we made some planks and did the lower wall of our basement bathroom in whitewashed plank walls. I'm having fun finding ideas for this bathroom.

DS went for a 40 mile snowmobile ride and out to lunch with other 14 year old cronies. Burning gas and riding ditches like the local riff - raff they are. Lol. Northern Minnesota boys know their fun.

I also figured out how to put in two Schlage door handles on kids' bedroom doors. Chisel out some of the door so the striker plates were flush. Kids were happy to have that done.

I'm done. and it's only 1:30 am. I think I might sleep tonight.

Congrats on those sweet creamers and creamettes Ralphie. Gorgeous birdies. Fun to have them sold too I'm sure.

Holm the farm photos are gorgeous.

Rhetts that cow -- oh my gosh -- so suspenseful!!!

BC Nothing sounds fun when it has the words "five mile run" in it. My poor knees would crumple over and leave me in a heap along the trail...BUT I use to love X-C skiing.. years ago..

2 things happened today that were amazing. (yesterday),,, Judy posted a picture she took of that eagle in the tree waiting to pounce on the chickens. Our daughter wrote back "cool" on the picture.

My DW replied. "NO NOT COOL when he is sitting there waiting to eat my chickens" She actually called them her chickens! That is a first.

Then I fell asleep watching TV with her, which is normal. I woke up to noise in the dining room, Judy was taking a video of the chicks hatching and just giggling like a school girl telling her weekend exploits on Monday morning..

First she took this picture, which she thinks is so cute,,

Followed by this video:

She says they were helping the newbie into the world I did not see that...

Coffee, I have a great new idea how you could have an eye candy rooster and the personality you want in him,,, What time do you want me to drop him off at. He will not crow for months....all you need is heating pad or light and some chick starter... (The males are not all sold just all the females)

Ralphie as you may remember xc skiing is low impact you'd be surprised. I'm waayyyyy out of shape and I hardly ache. The balance thing with it though if you haven't done it for a while will throw ya.

Love the photo and video. 2 girls and two boys fuzzed out there. Couldn't tell the new one yet. That's my guess yet. Judy's a good chicken momma Ralphie. ;)

It is not just the impact I worry about on my poor knees. Moving them hurts.

I cannot tell on the new one yet either. I think I have 3 boys and 2 girls and whatever the new one is. I think it is 3 and 3 now. Too many yellow spots showing..Of course if Coffee take one...it would help... and she needs a chick to spoil.

The magic number this morning is:

7
Not a great hatch rate, but better than 2 was. I don't recall what time of day I put the eggs in the incubator. I am hoping it was late afternoon, then my hatch is still on time. ( by late afternoon I mean 6-8 pm)

Good to see those chicks are still hatching, hoping lots more do. Judy is right I see how the little pecks got the chick moving out of it's shell quicker!
