I should think about seed starting around here soon. I have had zero luck with tomatoes and peppers for the last 2 seasons. I just must not be doing it right. I need to start sooner to have bigger plants. I bought a L&M green house last year so maybe I can harden them off better. I don't really know. I am no green thumb by any means.
how do you start them? do you use any supplemental heat or light?I should think about seed starting around here soon. I have had zero luck with tomatoes and peppers for the last 2 seasons. yep, it can be boom or bust! last year i actually lost most of my tomatoes because it was too sunny when i planted them and they scorched! lesson learned on that one the hard way. I ended up having to go to the greenhouse and buy all new plantsI start plants fine but the hardening off process is what is hard for me to get right. No good at it.
I put them in a seed tray in individual pods on my dining room table in front of the patio door/window. To harden off I put them out side during the good sunny days for a week or two then try to transplant. All shrivel up and die. They are not very big though. Maybe a month of growth in all. I am shooting for actual plants to transplant this year instead of the smaller things I get. So I will need many months of growth for that I am thinking. We plan for the first week of June to get in the soils around here. Sometimes sooner, sometimes later.how do you start them? do you use any supplemental heat or light?
