Surviving Minnesota!

When you download the add blocker scroll the page and there are 3 things you can turn on also . Like anti malware and anti tracking and anti spyware.

I don't want to sound like too much of a squeaky wheel again from the last time as blockers came up... But...
Don't forget that ads are what keeps this site free and online! I know they suck and slow the site down, I see the shockwave crash error frequently. But if everyone blocks the ads for free and doesn't buy the golden feathers our lovely chicken club could find itself homeless!

I won't nag, but just want to remind everyone.

One of these days the ads will get the best of me and I will become Chicken Wrangler Jr?!?!!

I am sorry, I have copyrighted anything chicken wrangler related....

Hey, it actually got warmer "feeling". late this afternoon. I went out for afternoon egg pick up and check and it felt warmer, that dang wind had died down. The turkeys greeted me at the door as I went out so they were easy to put to bed tonight.

I think I got a guinea egg today in one of the nest boxes. It was the right size and color but the point was not as pronounced as it should have been, but as I recall from last year the first few eggs a guinea hen lays are not quite the right shape.

I lost an egg to the cold again. Darn frozen egg! The SS have not laid an egg in a few days. I am not sure what is up with them. I even took off the cleaning panel to see if they were laying them on the floor. No eggs.

King George has turned owly again. I let them out for about 4 hours the other day, they enjoyed it. When I let them out all the other birds have to be locked up. It seems by letting them out they have decided to go on strike and turn owly.

I lost another CX hen. The experiment is coming to a quick end, I have one CX left and the two toads, Bert and Bertha. I am really hoping Bertha lays fertile eggs. I am thinking I might have to put Bert in solitary. He tried to breed the CX today at meal time. He cut her back up some. I am not sure the two hens can handle his weight and feet. If I make mitts for his feet and only let him in occasionally, do you think it would help the hens?

The turkeys are not eating the high priced Turkey breeder crumbles I bought them. The Toms do not appear to ne eating all day. I feed them the spendy stuff or the mash and it just sits there until the squirrels and chickens eat it the next day. If I throw them corn, BOSS and oats the run over and pick the corn out, then the BOSS and leave the oats.

Any idea who to get them to eat? They spend the entire day puffed up prancing for the girls.

Here is the PC in GITMO. I know it seems sparse, but she controls her future. All she needs to do is lay an egg and she is out of there. I feel sorry for her, it is so Spartan. Judy saw her in GITMO and called me cruel.

Here she is enjoying her GITMO stay.

On the golden Feather, I bought the year membership this time. I wonder how many ads I would have had to click on for them to make 20 bucks? If I am not mistaken the ads make them money only if you click on them, correct?

My guess is they pay a certain amount to be on the site regardless. I'm not sure of their contract. I had a 6 month Golden feather and never knew the whole time it could be used to block ads. So let it be known they got some bang from my buck. Jeesh. Whatever though. I enjoy the site. But I don't enjoy it when my keyboard lags and I have to take 45 minutes to type out a paragraph that would only take me 10 minutes.

tonight it's working pretty well though I have to say. Using Explorer.

I must say that GITMO looks like it could include Water-Boarding. With the spot light on that hen I'm sure her ovaries are swelling up as we speak right now with new ova. I know mine would. LOL.
I would say 2-3 days of that will get her out of the growly pancake position.

No snow here.

Just miserable cold windy weather with no possibility of sun today.

I though winter was over and it was spring now.

edited to add:

I just looked at the weather for the day the high is around 20! What is this crap? My Banana trees might get frostbitten if this keeps up.

I am going to be burning old tires today, see if I can't kick that global warming stuff in the rear and jump start it again.

Good Morning. It is cold outside. Spring isn't until March 20 or 21st so what did I expect? Last Saturday was just a tease. But the warm weather is coming faster than I think and I had better start preparing for it. Plant seeds; Get some chicks. The neighbor next door built me a chicken tractor with nesting boxes and a coop - the whole nine yards. God bless him. It will hold four chickens and be able to help with some troubled areas in the lawn.

SC (I will get some pictures on here soon) is now eating chick feed on her own! I still check her crop and make sure to give her drops of water. She appears to be gaining a little weight and holds her head up for longer periods of time. He right leg must be very strong from hopping around on it. She has also learned to use the right wing to balance herself, somewhat. I am very curious as to what the out come of all of this will be in a few more month.

Ralphie, am I correct in judging these chicks to be three weeks old now or am I closer to four? The Roos are at least 2x her size, maybe gaining a little more.

Okay - gonna get some work done but I will be watching this thread for more interaction.

OH! Holms, congrats on the baby. Brock. Do they learn their name (seriously) and come when they are called?

Ivie glad SC is do good!!

No there is a good chance that calf will ve wild and not like humans. We leave the calves alone while they r in the corral and by the time they get out of it tgey r a month old or older and dislike humans. But we still name them...
