Surviving Minnesota!

Daffodil starting to bloom . Storms passed by only rain here last night . Gooseberry leafing out . Grass getting greener . Blackberry starting to open buds .

Jerry are you trying to torture us with these reports. We have about 6 inches of fresh snow today with a weather warning in effect until tomorrow morning. They may have only gotten rain in Longville?
This winter prolonging weather sucks!

On the positive side this stuff will help to insure that Lake Superior remains at above average levels.

Yeah but you get cooler summers that I love . Too humid and hot here most of the summer . I often drool over earlier springs but those summers further south are torture . Plus too many chiggers and snakes .

What snow? We had a good day other than the wind. I actually got some outside stuff done.

I pruned my Banana's, and put safety rope on the coconuts, per OSHA regulations against falling coconuts...

MY maple tree is leafing out, too.

Tiny grass poking through the mud.
There are some bulb tops coming up, too.
Doesn't sound as good as Jerry's but it's what I've got!

I have a friend in the Bemidji area that had a good amount of snow pack last week.
There are, what, three hardiness zones in MN?
I bet we're all seeing some form of spring.
Jerry, thanks for sharing your spring signs, it gives me reason to be thankful and something to look forward to.
It has been kind of an Eeyore week up here!

So bad and good news here tonight.

The bad news is that we decided we are going to hold off pigs a year. Originally we thought we were going to be tied down to the farm while we built a house so we would be here to care for them. Now that is on delay so DW wants to do some traveling this summer. It is easy to get chicken sitters, I don't know about pig sitters.

The good news is that DW is making it up to me by letting me buy another tractor :) there is a guy the next town over selling an Allis Chalmers B with a belly mower for a steal and it will be perfect for mowing the farm this summer as I continue to reclaim area. Sorry ralphie, I know you don't like orange tractors but I guess it is in my blood so I can't help it! I can't afford anything green anyways....

Orange tractors are ok, I would love to have an old Allis. It is the green ones I am allergic too. (if they are over 3 ft tall.) My Grandpa had a B,C and WD For the little I do here a B or C would be perfect, I just want to find a real cheap one in excellent condition. So far I can find one or the other but not both.

Jerry, you do have a point. The summers are beautiful up here, even though Mark Twain said "the worst winter I ever experienced was a summer in Duluth".
I am not fond of poisonous snakes or ticks, and it is remarkable what a few Guineas will do to all but completely eliminate the ticks.

Ralphie, I said you were in the Minnesota Banana Belt. The nice thing about this late season snow is that shoveling it eliminates the need to go to the gym for exercise.

The harsh reality is that the chickens and Guineas want no part of it.

I am amazed, in reality, how much we missed yesterday and today. I was sure yesterday was going to be all rain and sleet. Other than wind it was a nice day. I even took my jacket off in my shop.

This morning I thought we would wake up to more snow, and the skies are clear!

Yesterday the radar showed the yucky stuff east of us by maybe 20 miles, it was amazing.

Today it appears to be spinning around a point in North eastern Wisconsin. However, there is a mass over the Grand Forks area sending tentacles our way. I am thinking of setting up a fan in the yard to create a high pressure ridge that will keep the yuck away.
