Surviving Minnesota!

The Rogers store is a place I go all the time. I simply will tell her I want to go to a different store....

Or I could take her to visit the wicked witch of the south and then run to Urchs!

Telling her I just wanted to get new chickens is just so not like me!!

She usually figures it out though.

I hate to implicate myself as an enabler, but if you do pull this plan off give me a heads up so I can at least wave as you drive by :)

My turkey has finally started laying... In the back corner of the roost! She sat on the roost all day. Then when I went to get her there was a perfectly fine turkey egg in the corner! Now for a test hatch to see what Mr. T is!

Good luck Holm..

Now I am going to be one of "those" people. The following is one my Granddaughters (my Youngest) and the chicks. She found them fascinating, and showed them to my Grandson in the last picture. The pictures tell the story, she spent hours watching them.

What a grey day today!

I had to extend the walls of my brooder this morning. My chicks are big enough to jump/flutter over the 8" wall.

I have been doing some reading and may try brooding my CX chicks on sand next week when they arrive. has anyone tried this?

I raise all my chicks on black dirt. No problems with it at all.

Good Monday Morning all. I hope you all had a blessed Easter. We were all together at home and it was very very Nice. I went out and took some pictures of my birds. They are looking great this spring.

Here is the upside down buckeye. Her wings/tendons/ligaments are back to normal. She is doing well and hopefully she'll resume an egg schedule that was brought to an abrupt stop.

Here is Dixie. My Buff Silkie who is blending into the dead grasses and foliage of early spring with great ease. She is literally the same color as the yellowed grasses. She has been free ranging a ton this spring and that is fun to see as she is usually nest locked with a broody brain. She serves her purpose in my flock though. And at first I regretted getting her but now I don't have regrets with her. Her crest is not show quality. But I don't want a big puff ball blurring her vision. She needs all of her vision around my yard. She's a good fit. Very feisty little girl. Yet easily handled by the food lady.

Here is Roger the Big Tootsie and the BLRW, Lucy (my A+ layer right now) and the EE with questionable morals, Marigold. Roger gave her a good chase again this morning.

I don't know what it is about her. But she is Eggless so not sure of the attraction there.

And the main man himself. Full of crackers and dried cherries no doubt. Spoiled. Spoiled Spoiled.

**Please disregard the ransacked hammock that used to be nice until we added a yellow family member.

What an exciting visit with Mr. Urch, Ralphie. I bet he got a bang out of you too. How neat to visit with him and see his farms. Very very fun. AND you got some Dominiques!!!! Love it.
