Meet No-name. Per ds we can't name any chicks until we know genders.

Quote: Me too! i bought the lye, some tallow (what kind of fat do you all use?) I got a couple of soap making books and have started watching the you tube videos. tired of paying 4-5 bucks a bar. But it is soooo nice! want to try and make it. Just need to pick up a mold and a couple of other things. soon!

Looks like it is going to warm up nicely next week. Can't wait for that!

Initially, I lined a shoe box with wax paper and poured the mix into it. Just after pouring it in I wrapped the box in towels for 24 hours. After that I carved them into bars and let them sit for about three weeks. Once you start - you will wonder why you paid 4 - 5 $ a bar but will understand how it was worth it. Good Luck Cluckies

IDK about working with just the grapeseed oil. When I made soap, and mind you I will make it again this next week - yea - my base was usually coconut or palm oil. I would add any additives to that base - such as almond oil. I will have more ideas when I am back into doing the deed. I need to get back the knowledge that I had.

Oh Ivie: I should have recognized a fellow soap maker right away! Your own Kitchenette?!!!!! You lucky girl. That's fantastic. BC You would love her house! It is beautiful as are all the out buildings! You can tell her hubby is a contractor. It is not thrown together so-so like my stuff.

Ralphie - that is very kind of you. Thank you. I guess a person does not realize what they have until they hear it from someone else. I just see all the clutter outside in my yard. So thank you because it just may help me realize how fortunate I am. And to make soap this week.
