Hound dog is doing fine . Ralphie I hatched 3 white chicks out of the Legbar over white Ameraucana . So it looks like that rooster is a carrier also . Taking a short break before I leave for the sale barn . I bummed up my knee a couple days ago . Painting again . Anyway yesterday was a light day due to the knee . I had a chiropractor visit to get back in place .

Jerry I don't know how good your stomach is but I started taking Aleve. Just need one. That stuff works like magic.

Here is the non-single comb BA's I am working on. The combs are hard to see, so I grabbed one and took a close up. I think I am going to call these "Minnesota Black Australorp" Now I just need 4 other people to breed these so we can register them. A BA without a single comb will be great, I think. Here area bunch of chicks about 2/3 are regular BA's 1/3 Minnesota BA's. I had 2 bands that fell off in the brooder in the dining room. Someone want to come check these out and separate the Minnesota BA'S? When they get older it is easier to tell. And finally, my last item for show and tell. I have told you all over and over about my panels. I have never showed you the dividing panels, (I don't think). These are also 24" (well 26 really) by 6'. With these I plan to line up 10 in a row next spring in 3 rows in my shed. That would give me 30 brooder panels and the flexibility to change them to whatever length I want by just pulling the door.

I love that close up of your black "minnelorp" . remember who your friends are when your rich and famous and recognized for your own breeds of chickens... Like Jerry . Love the little panel door for the chicks. Wow! Very professional looking. But then again if you are a share holder in Menards...

I use it . Chiropractor helped too . Did a couple of bee stings for the mild arthritis today . Old remedy that helps . Tightness is gone from the left hand . I bought a pair of Millie bantams tonight . Mixes I guess . I will have to get a pic tomorrow . Could be a project someone was working on . No feather legs or beard . So not sure what I have . I do not like feather legs . So I had to get these .

We are moving our garden to a new location. The trees are overshadowing and leeching the soil.
I despise soil prep work but the new veggies are worth it!!

Have you tried the Back To Eden method? No tilling, and great results.

That is great news on your rainbow. I think she needs a name. "Lucky" comes to mind. I'm glad you chose a mini quarantine and further testing for her. It's amazing to me the science of these tests and how a persons or birds chemistry can give false positives. Did you know Lyme disease tests have a alarmingly high false negative rate? Our physicians up here are to the point that if you've walked in the woods and feel like crap you're getting the doxycycline anyways. I don't know if they even test much any more. Anyways...
We do get her beef soup bones and boil them first as the raw bits stick hard to the bones and they begin to rot and stink. ( learned from a bone that didn't cook through) they are the only thing tough enough to last for her. In the yard there are shredded tennis balls and golf balls as well.
I keep reminding myself her predecessor chewed holes in 3 of my walls as a pup. She became a great dog. This one is a little more high strung though. A barker. A chaser.

BC, I can't name her lucky.  I was thinking Typhoid Mary would be cute.  We already have a "lucky" that egg the grandkids put in the incubator.

I am also glad she squeakin is okay !

I sure wish I knew what he is, he is huge! If not for his color I would think Bert had one egg hatch.    I think Lucky is moving to a new home next week.  He is going to make someone a really nice rooster.

The one week old chicks got a couple of new toys.....toilet paper tubes. While the 3 day old chicks are still playing the game "Stayin Alive - Stayin Alive". When my son asked why I gave the chicks toilet paper tubes my husbands response...."So they can wipe their own butts." Son gave the eye roll. But I am kinda tired of cleaning pasty butts. Only 1 of my week olds is having to be checked but 10 out of 15 of the younger ones were pasted. Any ideas why so many....These were the resends from Hoover's Hatchery....they did look pretty tough (in comparision to the prior week), so I gave them Save-AChick Probiotic & Electrolytes. Do you think the Save a chick is pasting them up?

Not an electrolyte issue. I hope you find a good solution, though

Dandelioness I helped my grandpa and great aunt and uncle set up a Back to Eden garden and its amazing! It looks great with no weeds.

BC I see where you had a high of 81 . We only got to 69 yesterday . I did some plum grafting and pear yesterday . Darn pup ruined about 10 of them . I had to redo . She now is in the kennel with the adult beagle . No more fenced yard time for her . She is 6 months .

It will come along, as I'm sure you know.

Grats.. Smart plan to hatch over white something else to see if the white carries through. I do not have any white, except Bertha. I would breed Minnesota-combed Australorps, no question. Do I need NPIP cert first? I am moving toward it anyways.

Glad to hear it. Last week one of our neighbors got a new Black and Tan pup and earlier this week we see that or neighbors across the road have a new Walker hound pup. You know how some ladies get baby fever when they are around other people's baby? my wife is getting the same except hound fever!

I know, right! Takes a little effort in the beginning of the season, but the weeds come out like butter!
I have a tree guy three lots down, so I'm all set up

I know I am chiming in late - just catching up with all the threads. When I made new gardens (because there will be no more new gardens) I found that laying cardboard down and covering it with compost, manure and black dirts worked really well. I learned this from organic gardening and it works so well I would never think of doing it any other way. Honest.  Three to four layers of newspaper works well too. Right over the ground, grass, weeds whatever. It rots away, is good compost and the weeds and grass are killed.  Just sayin
