Ralph this little gal is in love with my sister! She snuggled up in her legs when she was holding her! She gave it a name... Its Pecker... Now now stop laughing! Shes just little and was trying to figure out why me, my mom and my aunt were laughing so much... We didnt tell her... But she is a sweet bird!

Btw the second pic is of the one I was holding.

Sorry I missed meeting you today holm. I got lost a bit on what Minnie called an 'old map'. They relabeled the roads about 8 years ago. Anyways got turned around and gave her a call and found our way there. Was great to meet BYC folk face to face and so excited to start the hatch project.

Brought the eggs to my friend and she was thrilled with them. Anxious to start her classroom hatch project.

She also had me look at a leg horn that has not been laying and looking ill. I palpated her abdomen and she has the egg mass of egg yolk peritonitis. We went through the hens and there's another bird with it as well. Both hatchery stock.
And one of the reasons I drive for hatching eggs.

Today I was giving one of my Marans a butt wash because she had poopy butt and needed it, well I think she had a heart attack. She died right while I was cleaning her in the laundry tub. She didn't drown I only had two inches of water and only her back end was wet. She was 4 yrs old and had started laying big pretty brown eggs again this spring.
About 3 weeks ago she was just sitting in the yard and was breathing open beaked and her comb was turning purple so I'm guessing she had a bad heart.
Sure made me feel like crap to cause her death though.
Her name was Hoppi, when she was just a new chick she had something wrong with one leg and would hop, the other chicks picked at her so I separated her until her leg healed.

So sorry Erli. What a horrible thing to happen to you while you were giving her care. More room for a new pullet I guess.

Jerry how was fishing?

Yesterday my daughter had a pacesetter tournament in Frazee. We got 3rd place. 1/2 outr usual girls were at a softball tournament so we were down some players. That made it tougher. The girls put up a good fight though and were happy with 3rd just as well.

Long day there and then got up at 5:00 to be on the road at 6:00. Had lunch with my sister in the cities at an awesome Irish pub in shakopee. Then off to TSC and menards in elk river. Then home.

My sister wants to get 2-3 hens for her back yard. She has a gorgeous grape lined fenced yard. And those birds would be so
Spoiled. She's the perfect person to have chickens as well. I think she's liked chickens longer than I have. I told her she totally needs to get them. I see a coop raising in savage in my near future.

I found a scab on my buff brahma hen tonight, I left it alone cuz I didn't know what to do. Help? It's on her crop, she is acting normal, could she have cut it open?

I wish we could have met Judy! I will post pics of him tomorrow! And guess where the legbars r sleeping? With a broody Cochin! I thought what the heck she has been broody for two weeks and no eggs so I set them by her and they snuggled up to her and r staying warm with her!

I'm getting my milk cow on Tuesday!!!!
She's very close to calving, so hopefully we will have her a few days before she calves!

Heres my Buckeye boys! The bottom ones name is Finnick and I havent named the other yet. Nvm just though of a name! Cato!!



And the pullets! One will be named Annie and another Effie! I need ywo more named and a name for the second Legbar!
