Surviving Minnesota!

Fishing was poor yesterday . I caught 1 . Water was murky . My chicks should ship today . Yesterday got to 80 . Should hit close to that again today before clouds and rain move in this evening . Then a cool down to more normal temps . Morels have been found in this area . Too dry but the rain should help . I have not looked yet .

I was going yo get up at 6 and take care of the birds but I didn't, my older sister just woke me up at 10 til 7.

My track meet for today was cancelled.. I'm kind of sad about it since I wanted a really good 200 hurdles run again.
But that gets me more time to get ready for the milk cow tomorrow!!

Violets - if the hen is not in distress, eating and drinking, and there's no sign of infection, best just alone. If you are able to cover the wound to prevent others from pecking at it even better.

Good morning all! today is the last day of my bachelors week. I pick up DW at 5 tonight. I need to be productive on my last day. My corn grinder needs wheels, im hoping my parts come so i can put my new tractor back together, and i need to pick up a few things around the house so DW can come home to a clean house.

I decided to sleep in til 8 on my last day home alone, sorry to disappoint ralphie

Featuring our milk cows new calf!!

So cute!!

Is it an angus jersey cross?

The cow I'm buying has jersey semen that is also altered to have a 90% chance of being a heifer, I will most likely sell the calf back to the dairy farm u, ot keep the calf I'm not sure yet though

She's also a show jersey, so I might show her and her calf. The only thing wrong with her is that she has an uneven bag and that's one of the reasons the farm is selling her since the robotic milker has trouble getting directly on her tits

So maybe the lesson her is - if you have a bird and name it Hoppi - keep it away from water. Sorry to hear about Hoppi erlibird. I hope she was not suffering from three weeks ago to now. Probably not. We humanize our animals too much! We get so attached to them.

Ralphie- I am sure my one CLB is a hen and I KNOW the other is a roo. Lucky me! Their names are Reginald and Regina. They are both so regal. Still not sure what the SS are. If they are all hens then Reggie will have his work cut out for him because this flock will have 10 hens and he is their roo. That would be a nice number in a flock. If one of the SS is a roo then those birds will have their own run. I want SS - so curious, so friendly. Actually so are the CLB

Shes a Jersey/Who knows cross. Dad was a black bull but has who knows what in him.

Get a halter on that calf right away! Calves are near impossible to break till a they are a few months old. Idk why they are so stubborn. But on rare occasion a calf will behave!
