Surviving Minnesota!

I went on a trip to Hackensack, MN to pick up bees from Mann Lake Ltd. Boy it was a long drive, 6 hours round trip!

! But it paid off, we got our bees into their hives before sundown. Hey ralphie, I get my 25 chicks on Thursday!

! Countdown to Chicks= 3 days !

I gave you everything I had to share last night, so if that doesn't spark conversation, I've nothing worth reading to share here...

I did not comment, but I sure agreed, what a "piece of work"....Did you check his car did he have a handicap sticker and was he recently in the Elk River Walmart.

I wish I had a farmers market like you have.

My cochins are doing really good. Right now I have them in a ground rabbit cage so that they can eat grass and socialize with the other chickens while I'm at school.
I'm wishing I hadn't put them out though since it looks like its going to rain.

They are slowly turning into being very pampered birds

Last night they got a layer of hay, then wood chips, and hay lining the while inside of the cage there in. They also got some milk from Dakota

Hopefully now that I have some REAL cochins my dad will let me build a separate coop for 12+ cochins, and a chick coop.

What do you guys think of using feather fixer for show birds? I'm trying to find something to feed the cochins.

We also bought a male Flemish giant, so our other rabbit, who's a female, has some company

In hindsight my comment this morning came out a little snarky, so my apologies for that. Didn't mean it that way ;)

I'm sure your parking friend is related to the gentleman from the market. The market really draws an interesting crowd of sellers. The lady next to us sold fairy garden type decorations and birdfeeders made from tea cups and wine bottles and such. She kept making comments to us about how some lady 'stole her spit' and that is why she was by us and that other lady isn't even a regular and her customers couldn't find her blah blah blah like people came and bought a tea cup super glued to a saucer with a chain through the handles to hand as a bird feeder weekly.... We just nodded along until she went back to her booth. There is no assigned spots so it is technically her own fault for not showing up early enough to get where she wanted.

There was a new guy there selling homemade root beer. We usually don't buy stuff when we are selling but we got a bottle and it was excellent. I hope to see him back as that was a nice late morning treat.

There probably is one if you looked for it. How 'close' may be relative

There was one a while back but now there isn't. A neighbor of mine who has a 2+ acre garden has a deal with the grocery store and sells her produce there, but she has to do all this contract stuff ect

I am SO proud of myself!! I set myself a goal yesterday to get the framing and roof on to my coop before the rain comes!!! Well I DID IT!! My husband had to help me with the roof sheets but I got it done...oh BTW Happy (belated) Mothers Day to all you moms :) My husband took me for brunch and then I got to work....never even opened my laptop yesterday. Next is the siding and the run which I believe will be a bigger headache for me than the actual ccop! I hope to get that done this coming weekend. They have me working doubles at the post office so I can't get a thing done during the week :( The white tape around it is because one of my horses is a "butt head" and kept scratching his mane and butt on the corner of the building!

I will be refraining from pictures of my now pre-teenaged attitude birds, that made me late for work until further notice until then...Pease enjoy my nice steers that could really care less as long as they have feed and water.
