Surviving Minnesota!

I know I haven't been on this thread hardly at all, but I need to spread the word to you folks too if you don't mind....

I had to make the tough decision to start eliminating some breeds from my flock and reducing the others. With all that is going on with my son, it is becoming more and more difficult to take care of so many. He has been in and out of the ER and the hospital over the last couple of months. He was finally diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder in early April. I say 'finally' because we had been seeing that something was not as it should be with him for some time before that. This means trying to get the right medication, counseling, plus lots of other outpatient care for the next few months.
So,....
If anyone is thinking about 'needing' (

) more chickens, let me know. The adult White Silkies are spoken for already, but I have a lot of bantams chicks and juvies. I am hatching a batch of Buckeyes that I don't want to keep too since I have more than enough from that rooster who sired them.

No, just some Black Large Fowl left to go. The only bantams I have are Silkies and Salmon Faverolles and some crosses I was working as a project but I am going to let that go.

Oh Boy, you are so tempting me.

I could sure use some Fufus....... or some buckeyes, beings my Urich ones failed. (bad hatch rate).....

Judy will kill me if I get more......BUT she is on a "girls trip" for a few days...soooooooooo...

Smile - LOL - Good morning Ralphie and all other chickeners. It is going to be a perfectly, gorgeous day. I stepped outside with the dogs and oh my, the morning is so spot on for a spring morning. Gotta go to New Richmond Wisconsin this a.m. so this is the last you all will hear from me until later. Then I will lurk to see what is happening with your days.

Are the black large fowl breeding or show quality?

If you ever have to sell him I would gladly take him.
Lots of hens, and a lot of area to run around in.
My chantecler, and silver laced Wyanndotte cross would probably put him in his place

IVIE!! Pack his suitcase he is moving west!!!

Go West, Young Tom, Go West! What a lucky bird. Hahahaha.

I love Layers, I've seen her stock of Black Cochins at another farm...and they are Gorg....but I'll let her answer that. She breeds to show.

Ralphie: Your CLB hens' crests and White Sport are gorgeous. It's kind of fun to see how they are feathering in. Amazing how fast the time has went.

Minnie: Sorry to hear you are reducing your flock, but understand that family is priority. Hope all goes well and we get you back into chickening full force again sometime. You're my go-to-girl for fine chickens.

By the Way my sister is loving her new hobby and let them out for their first supervised free range on Monday. They are in love and the chickens have a big wonderful backyard. The little white Bantam is lead hen so far. Haha.
