Momma hen Amy has quit taking care of her chicks today, at just 5 weeks. Seems a little early but I don't remember when the last years broodies quit.
She was treating them like they were rotten teenagers this afternoon then she jumped up on the roost and left them to sleep alone in a nest box.

Thanks! They are starting to get a bit crowded. Eight out of my 13 chicks are boys. I didn't even get a blue girl.

Oh too bad. Its always a gamble with straight run, but I'm sure it won't be too hard to sell them.

I bet that's her. She had a lot if point of lay pullets, so I'm sure her ad is still up. She's between Harris and Cambridge.

@duluthralphie , DH pulled weeds out of my hosta bed for me this weekend. I had to take a picture in case it never happened again. Perhaps you should do some weeding for Judy? And yes, those are all weeds in the cart. I may have been slacking.

Nice! Are you saving for the chickens? Or just composting? I give weeds to the bunnies, chickens, and sheep, they love them almost as much as my veggie garden. And it makes me feel better when I don't range them for the sake of the young plants.

We went out of town for less than 48 hours. I left my father-in-law in charge of our teenage chickens. In perfect grandpa fashion he claims they squabbled about lights out time so he let them have the lights on all night. ("But they squawked so loudly, I thought I was wrong by shutting off the light.") Came back on Sunday around noon.... to a bunch of sleepy teens. But he did teach them to use the drinking cup system......My motto about marriage. Find a good Father in Law. You can learn to deal with the son after the marriage vows. Here is another picture of the 3 Kings.....they may have been prompted to come near me for photos with treats of Oats.

Yah, I had two chicks die They must've been girls.
I guess I'll see, I think the lavender one will go fast because they're rare. But they are cockerels. Hardly anyone wants cockerels.

I think 5 weeks was about when that happened to me last year. Do they have all their feathers? Maybe she just needs some sleep at night and will be a good mom in the morning LOL Ask me how I know!
