My guess would be absent any other reasons a congenital birth condition that just surfaced. It happens. As I have said before 21 days is not a long time for an egg to become a living functioning creature, with 9 months people still have birth defects that kill them. With only 21 days of development it is amazing there are not more.
How long do you guys leave ducklings in the incubator after hatching?

Don't listen to Ralphie! Lol! You could really leave them in there up to 48 hours because of yolk absorption. By leaving them be, you also won't be disturbing the hatching of the others eggs.
