It is amazing what a chick can do to your day. I had a great day but have been fighting a head cold and sinuses for several days. Having Holm and his family here was fun. (If you ever get a chance to meet them take it)...


We talked about Mr T, I have started the paper work to get him because of Holm not having a NPIP flock. So far it looks good. I made a pitch for him based on his unique color genetics...

Anyways I was feeling blah, Have been living on Dayquil and Sudafed. I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and went downstairs to move the Guinea eggs to the hatcher. I was doing some cleaning and sterilizing and I thought I heard a Peep!


I opened a hatcher and I had a late comer in there. As soon as I opened the door he looked at me and started talking away at me... He is just a little creamer, but he still made my day and lifted my spirits.


Judy was working (actual hospice work) I brought the little guy upstairs and showed her the late comer, and she even smiled and it brightened her charting chore. She had to hold him and talk to him too...



Every grouchy person in the world should be forced to hold a new born chick!

Oh,,, also Holm has declared both my older sports to be roosters! He ruined my day...... Hopefully one of my other 4 are girls...

Sure . I bought some morels out here . Finished eating the last of them today . Leaving in about a hour to catch the train . 2 day ride .

2 out of 7 have hatched

This is the first one, this was taken a few minutes ago. He's slowly hobbling around.

I didn't realize this one was out until I heard some peeping, and I looked over and there he was.


Also how long should I wait ti take them out. I am planning on taking these 2 out together.
Is it best to just wait until they've dried off

You might want to try Destiny, she has a bunch of Fufu type birds.
