Surviving Minnesota!

Hey all..

Been a busy day, I had to drive back from the North shore, I was testing my cattail darts with curare. It is amazing how well they work.

Up in the boondocks is the only place the curare toads live in Minnesota...

Okay - I for sure have not had a broody hen. I have had a couple get upset when I open their nesting box cover but never like that. Thanks Violetsfeathers.

You will have no doubt when they are broody. They will refuse to move and when you reach they will flatten like a pancake over the nest. They will growl and bite. If they do leave they will let you know what they think of you, using 4 letter chicken words, very loudly.

MNchickMom how did you do at the fair? Or the kids do?

The kids are showing at the Benton County fair, we bring them in tomorrow afternoon. 2 of the ss roosters we got from you will be shown in the market pen class. My daughter will have to plead her case as I understand normally this class are Cornish cross dominated.

I wish I had known that was what you were up too, I have some 9 week old babies of Bert that would kick the CX's butts. They are my own crosses. They have a larger frame than a CX. Breasts almost as large as a CX but thighs and drumsticks that are huge....

They are f3 CX Dixies Rainbows. I ended up with too many roosters too! I don't suppose their buying them tomorrow would qualify them for the fair. ( I could make them a realllllllly good deal.....)

The SS will be quite a sell into a market group.

You are going to see Holm's at the fair??

I thought about going to the fair, for about 12 seconds. I am very anti-crowds so I decided to stay home.

Yep :D no problem.
One of my hens always screams at me when I get too close to the nesting box when she's laying but she's never been broody. :)
