WOW!! Look at all those babies!! Are these all baby Caeser's babies?! I see alot Lilacs and Chocolates!! At least thats what they look like in the pics lol. How is Cleo doing?
Could have been a heart attack . I have had a couple over the years die while doing photos .I moved the remaining 3 babies out of the tree. If something comes down the tree tonight I have a surprise for it...
The day never got better. I think I need vast quantities of adult beverages tonight!
Nothing went right from the moment I found I hade lost 4 babies from the tree.
I had that tree that blew down nearly hitting my van and the layer coop. I decided the other day I would try moving it today, because Judy was off work. I did not think moving a widowmaker when I was alone was too bright.
I did not get it moved until nearly 2pm. I kept the chicken, guineas and turkeys locked in the coop until I got the tree moved. I did not want to hit a bird or run one over with the Bobcat. As soon as I got the tree away from the coop and it was save for the birds to come outside I asked Judy to open the door.
She yelled to me " there is a dead chicken in here".
I figured it would be one of my older gals. I expect them to be leaving this world. It was not. It was a young bird! Matter of fact it was the PC rooster I promised to EJB and I was going to show in Hutch. My heart hit bottom. I could find nothing wrong with him, other than he was dead. His crop was empty so it must have happened in the early morning before he got off the roost even. No marks on him. his insides looked ok. I figure if he had gotten off the roost he would have eaten something and his crop would not be empty. I am dumbfounded and shocked. I may not be going to Hutch now.
I have at least two other PC cockerels, but they are smaller and do not IMHO< have as much potential as this one did.
I don't know why I can't lose the birds I am thinking of culling or getting rid of. Why does it always have to be the better ones?
I have so many I expect to die that don't and good ones do!
Sorry, EJB, I will get you another one, I have one in the rooster pen that will be happy to know he might get out of the rooster pen soon.
