Surviving Minnesota!

lvie they havent come yet but I am sure they will be here today. The hen is doing really good! I wasnt able to stitch it so am just keeping it clean and moist (I REALLY REALLY HATE THAT WORD!)

Good Morning to each of you. I went raked out the coop and then dug up the outdoor run so that the chickens can scratch. They love that of course and pack it back down in different formations as they have at it. They are very quiet when this activity happens and very content. Then I move some plants around - which is a thimble size of what needs to happen in a big five-gallon bucket. September is almost half-way over with and I had better start truckin on the outdoor work.

Thank you MNChickMom for your comments about the barred rocks. I think my one is bossy also. She is like a malcontent and always open to telling anyone who will listen. I think that she is interesting looking - Tom Hanks was gorgeous - yet I believe the SS are far more beautiful - and so quiet. They are curious and come pecking when I am in the coop to find out what I am doing. If my toe nails are painted they are all about that. A button they can reach when I am stooped over is fun also. So sweet. Gilda will be with me as long as she waddles around and I will not seek more barred rock. She is productive and that is why I raise the chickens.

Have I mentioned that I love this weather? I am actually thinking about beginning the process of enclosing the coop. Very slowly, methodically for this year. Last year I kind of just threw it up, not really knowing what I was doing. The nights are going to begin the process of cooling off so I may as well begin to prepare.

Oh! and about those people with the sick chicks - they may be just coming around to get an education. Have they accused you Ralphie or wanted different chicks? My DH showed me an e-mail from a potentional client he thought might turn out to be a PITA which he generally moves away from immediately. I thought that the ten, in depth, questions she was asking were just for educational purposes. After he talked to her he was happy and freely admitted that he had misjucged the situation. I know that I can be such a PITA with my questions that I generally understand a PITA.

Good morning Holms. Which word do you hate? I am concerned because you should of had those by now. I think it will be much easier to clean that wound up, cover it and keep it covered with those saddles. I hope they come today.

that is bothersome. I keep expecting to open my mailbox and find them in it for more postage or something. But they weren't in mine either. I guess we are waiting until Monday.

No, they did not accuse me of anything, but I thought it was implied. I am just touchy on my chicks I sell. I really try to make sure they are 100% or I will keep them until I am sure they are.

It could very well be she was just trying to find a reason and checking out all possibilities. I know I would do that and she seems to be a good chicken person, and fun to talk to. I am sure I over reacted, I do that.

Hence, the 423 times I have been on double secret probation here.

Going through old pictures and found this one of Ralph and Penny

And my younger cousin.
Ralph drowned 2 months after this and Penny died this spring
