Surviving Minnesota!

Hi @jerryse

Did you make it back home to Illinois? I hope you worked out something with your native timber/boards.

All intact after spending time with WW?

Well Glycerin is the good part of cold process soap. And when you buy commercial soap they remove that part and sell it on the side through a pharmacist...yes. It is a water soluble humectant--softening moisturing skin. That I've used and first saw used in a Youtube video.

The lady used a 3 bucket system for her birds in the video.

Squirt of Pet Shampoo--warm water Splash of Vinegar-- warm water Glycerin squirt--warm water

As I've stated previously I don't show...but I looked it up for poops and giggles because I wanted to give my birds a spring bath. And I've done that since then. It seems to make them sparkly. I don't know....

I think Minnie gave you some tips didn't she.... Our show-girl...?
This 3 bucket method is the exact method we used. The 18 gallon Shopko $3.88 totes work great for size.

Washing method here:
Ivory Snow or Purex liquid in the first bucket.
Clean water rinse in second bucket.
White vinegar water rinse in third bucket.
Do this 10 days before the show and the natural oils should be back in the feathers to provide shine.
You can add all sorts of things to a birds feathers to make them shine, but nothing looks better than the natural one, and you can feel the difference too. Overdry feathers that were washed too harshly and removed all the oils will still feel brittle compared to a naturally moisturized feather bird.
