Surviving Minnesota!

Toying around with the idea of raising some turkeys next year, probably just some BB bronze ones. I figure I could let them run on the new pasture once it has a chance to get well established. I would keep them far from my chickens where there hasn't been poultry before, as I don't have the sandy worm free soil of ralphies part of the banana belt

Are you in the Thief area? Im just about 6 miles west of Thief.

You are most correct in saying that! I am 7 miles south. But then to the east. I live on the casino road. So closer than anyone else. Originally from WI. But haven't lived there since I left for college in North Dakota. Way out in Minot! Now talk about wind, Minot certainly has that too!

After 14 years of marriage and living here I still have not made friends with the wind. It just keeps shoving itself in my face over and over again! Many beautiful days have been ruined by the abundance of wind.

Very cool.
MN in general is cold, but the wind is another beast in itself. Minot I cant imagine is any windless paradise either.

It takes a special breed of people to enjoy this part of the world lol. The high amount of stout Norwegian heritage around here may have a few things to do with it as well.

Please do not disparage those of Norwegian Descent. MY Grandpa use to tell me the Norwegian use to be a great people and had lots of value, until the Swedes taught them to stand up and walk on two legs. Then they got uppity and refused to even pull a plow.!

Hey Minnesotans: Can you show me the water cups that work good in our weather? Or whatever those watering thing a majigs work the best for you. Issues with cold cold weather?

Rethinking the Fill and Flips. They've worked for 4 years ...but maybe there's a better way that works, here.

@duluthralphie

Did you hear about the Swede who challenged the Norwegian to an ice fishing competition? He thought for sure he had won after proudly bringing home 20 pounds of ice.... poor guy still thinks he won.

You know how that whole thing started right? There once were 2 neighbors, one a swede and one Norwegian. They never quite saw eye to eye. One day one of them was quite fed up with the other so he went to his shed where he kept a hand grenade and threw it over onto the others home. Of course the second guy was miffed so he grabbed the Grenade, pulled the pin, and hurled it back hahaha

Now you can decide which was which as I myself am fine mix of Irish and German :)
