Surviving Minnesota!

I have no idea about Lasik, (thanks for helping ne spell it)...

The idea of someone cutting into my eyes drives me nuts.

My Kids got their eye genes from their mother. I have vision that is better than 20/20 still at my age. I do need reading glasses, but that is normal for us old guys, I guess.

I have a swollen nose now. Well kind of, I saw one of my turkeys favoring her one leg. I caught her to look at it. She beat the poop out of me picking her up. My turkeys are not lappers! (except JJ). The numbered zip tie had tightened up. I exchanged it for a bandette. I have had to do that to several of the zip ties. Bandettes might fall off but they will not hurt the birds. I need a better option.

DH grew up with Cub Cadet, I grew up with John Deere. I had never even heard of Cub Cadet and wasn't too impressed with the yellow color. It looks like a giant banana zooming around the yard. I budged only because I'm not the one mowing the lawn. DH says I go too fast and don't cut it evenly. Whatever.....my goal is fast. I've been eyeing up one of the John Deere compact tractor models - I told DH not to even glance in the direction of the yellow beasts.

Mo3 sorry to here the little guy is sick.

My little guy is having surgery today so I have to drive him back and forth from the clinic.  He is having Laze-x?  Guess I spelled that wrong.  He surgery is the same time as my Granddaughters bus gets home from school.  So I have to take him to surgery and back while his wife watches kids.

I have been weighing solar lights also. My problem is finding a solar light with a timer on it.  The other concern I have is the strength of the battery and battery life in the banana belt. Sometimes it gets chilly here  and I wonder if the batteries would have any life left in them in the AM when I need the light.

We have solar lights along our walkway, and they do not stay on all that long the batteries seem dead in hours.

Good point on the timers. I was looking at dusk to dawn models but they need to turn off too at night. Hmmmmm

I've tried ordering on-line before.  It won't let me pick a store or something that drives me nutso.  I think I'm missing some not so intuitive piece when I try to order on-line.  They would have bundled it up and let me pay by CC over the phone, and he suggested that I return it then rebuy.  I think it's a dumb strategy.  Like I'm wasting my time and breath talking to him on the phone to not show up.  But I suppose they get hun-yucks that have ruined it for the rest of us.

I have had luck with the 11%.  Seems my timing for wanting to do things runs into the 11%.  I have $29 card that will bring this $91 bill down to $62.  Woot.  But as the Menards strategy of keeping unskilled and probably low paid labor I will have to pick it all out on my own.  Not a major deal....just time is my precious commodity tomorrow.  And when I walk into that place I feel lost for days until I find what I'm looking for.  And God forbid if I interrupt Saturday Chit-Chat at the Kiosks. :he

Deep Breath....

Sigh....

I've spent more than my fair share of money at menards recently and I have found that the best place to get help is at the building supplies desk at the back. Even if the stuff is stocked inside the store they usually are the most knowledgable as they are the ones that work with contractors and such. Though be wary if it is super busy, then you may just get some kid helping fill in that will not know as much.

I run a cub and a craftsman. Mostly because the price was right. I won't spend big money on a nice mower when DW and MIL are doing the mowing. Same reason you don't buy nice cars for teen drivers :)

I will say that I favor my Allis Chalmers for my old iron full size tractor applications.

Cub Cadets are suppose to be red, this is what they evolved from:
