Surviving Minnesota!

Also this talk about non green tractors has just about made me leave the thread. We bleed green! In fact my husbands pickup line to get number was...." so your dad owns a John Deere 80."

We use to have all kinds of "tractor" arguments as kids.

We had all IH. My uncle was all John Deere and my grandpa was all orange. Some of the neighbors. Had the funny green, Oliver. One of my best friends is still into Oliver's , I think he has 6-7 of them.
I am looking for old IH's or Allis''s.

Kind of funny how set we can get on a certain make.

Did I miss something?  How did we get to Lasik?

I am at lasik clinic with my son right now, is how.

I run a cub and a craftsman. Mostly because the price was right. I won't spend big money on a nice mower when DW and MIL are doing the mowing. Same reason you don't buy nice cars for teen drivers

I will say that I favor my Allis Chalmers for my old iron full size tractor applications.
The last time I let DH drive my JD lawn tractor he got pi&&y with me for asking and ran it into the deck (on accident) but he was still mad at me. And he broke out the head light and cracked the bumper which then later did eventually fall off with the help of DS. Who now is disinterested in helping with the lawn. So the job is back on me and I don't mind. The men folk are hard on Green around here. FIL 'saved' an Allis from the farm sale. That's in his garage. It backfires once in a while. Love it. But Dad always had John Deere on the farm. And now that he lives on the lake he has a deisel 'lawn-utility' tractor. That thing is nuts. DS is forever drooling over it.

Oh good for him! He's going to LOVE it. He'll not need his glasses right from the start although it will seem like he's looking through a foggy window the first day. I still remember looking at leaves and seeing every single one of them on the trees on the drive back home. I'm 20/15 right now.

The only thing I don't like about my two old ACs is neither have 3 points and the one that has hydraulics only has 1 way hydraulics. This is a product of their age not make but still. Some day soon I will be able to buy a newer tractor with 3 points and a dual action loader and it will be nice. I probably won't be able to be picky on color... Just on finding one that will fit my budget. That is the 5 year plan though

It is a hard choice for me nostaligic reasons say go real old. Practical say get a little newer with 3 point and live 2way hydraulic.

When we were kids we were taught to never argue religion, politics or tractors.

I HATE Menards.

I just got off the phone with them to order a Ceiling Grid System for my little bathroom project. I have one of my rebate cards waiting to reduce the cost of it all. I want everything to be bundled up and ready for me to pick up tomorrow. I want to save time and have them pick it and put it together. I pick it up and then pay for it. After calling back because I was accidently hung up on, and then waiting and listening in the background while somebody else got sub par service. I finally got the person back on the phone who then took my order. They then tell me I would need to pay in full now before they would get it ready for me. I told them I'd like to pay tomorrow with cash and use my rebate card.

No Go.
I said Thanks sarcastically and hung up. What has happened to good service at this s-show of a business? And they've got you by the cajones because they ARE cheaper than other places. You get what you pay for folks.

Bad time to mention I went to High School with Paul Menard, the NASCAR driver? Haha I feel this way about Menards also most of the time. I was raised in Wisconsin. Incidentally in Eau Claire where Menard's was founded.

Shot one big beaver 10 minutes ago. There's definitely some more. They were building a hut. I'm going to take the tail off of this one
