Does anybody use a solar powered coop light? I'm going to try and supplement lighting in the coop for a few extra months and am on the search for an easy method. Otherwise I thought about hanging up a small strand of x-mas lights. And it's best to add light in the morning, correct?

I have used solar xmas lights in a small coop. They work, but unless you have them on a timer, you still need to go turn them on and off, which I find to be a pain in the butt. I like that mine are hardwired into the electric.

I've noticed my solar lights around the house get eroded after a year. That's a concern of mine as I don't want to spend the money on a decent solar set-up and it's garbage the next year. I did see some with timers on Amazon.

They have Lasik down to a perfection - he'll love it.

My husband is a field service tech for the largest laser eye company in the country. He works on a lot of those lasers in and around the Cities. He is a really conscientious technician and makes sure everything is perfect before he leaves an account. It's some of the docs that would make me nervous. He has been doing this work for over 15 years, and he still wears glasses

They have come so far with that whole process that is really is amazing that they can correct to better than 20/20 now.

They started with yellow a long long time ago. My dads hydro I have on loan is from the 70s I think

Where's the best place to get "good" coconut oil? How expensive is it usually?

When I was little we had to shingle the barn roof, I was too little to help but I do remember my sisters teasing about putting the rope around their neck so that if they slipped they would end up right side up instead of upside down as they would if they were to tie it around their ankle.
On a side note, we had a neighbor that did alot of roofing. He was missing a leg (don't recall how he lost it but I think it was a PTO accident) but he would always joke that he could just nail his wooden leg to the roof so he didn't need to be tied.


I had lasik about 15 years ago and I would recommend it to anyone! Of course, I had very bad eyesite, couldn't hardly see without my glasses, I don't know if I would try it if they hadn't been that bad because, yes, it is scary to think about.

That is ridiculous!!! 1.) They would peck at each other's feet all the time. 2.) they make as much sense as putting a sweater on a bird.
Otherwise, it might be a clever way to ID some birds.

We use to have all kinds of "tractor" arguments as kids.

We had all IH. My uncle was all John Deere and my grandpa was all orange. Some of the neighbors. Had the funny green, Oliver. One of my best friends is still into Oliver's , I think he has 6-7 of them.
I am looking for old IH's or Allis''s.

Kind of funny how set we can get on a certain make.

Back on the farm my dad was running with my uncle when I was a little kid, they always had Olivers. My not so swiff uncle used to take them to the tractor pulls and blow engines. Well, he and my dad got in a big fight and they split and we ended up leaving. That uncle ran a small dealership or repair shop of Olivers, but I can't remember that far back. My dad's favorite tractor though was an Oliver Super 55. My husband found a model one online a few years back and gave it to my dad. I thought that was pretty sweet. I am sure it is at my mother's house somewhere now.

When we started the farm that we moved to, we went all International. We now have an IH 640 or something like that with a loader on it and a some implements to fit it, but the tires are filled with calcium chloride and it is HEAVY has heck. It is good for scraping the driveway and moving the compost or wood chips or dragging logs. I would like something smaller that could do those things, but those compacts are not cheap.

BTW I bought a special piece of leg jewelry for every one of my bird for "national Bird Day" or "bring your chicken to work day" last year...

where's the old farm Holms? I may know it as it's in my neighborhood.

Technically its closer to Goodridge but not many people know where that is. I will have to see where it is exactly and let you know.

I was just at Fleet Farm and they have pumpkins for $1.99. Not a bad deal if you feed them to your chickens. I really need to grow some next year.....

As always, great pictures! I still have a suite put aside for Mr. T - it has cable, mini fridge, and Jacuzzi. He'd sure like it at my house.......
