Surviving Minnesota!

As for the feed lots....they need proper employees managing them.....I have seen some poorly managed/stinky dairy (2,000 milk cow) feed lots and I have seen some well managed non-stinky 3,500 cow milking operations. Just 3 years ago my husband and I were "on the list" for site visits for a Golden Plump Grower Barn. We spoke to neighbors and had one neighbor adamently oppose it, so we decided to scrap the plan. She has since moved. Instead, I have my backyard flock so maybe it was a blessing that she opposed it.

As for the elections....I want to vote the way our Junior High and High School students were given the opportunity to vote. Fill in the bubble for the candidate of your choice Trump, Clinton, Neither. :th

Trump "won" with the schools around here.

I was looking at those results and was embarrassed by how many kids voted for the 'legal marijuana now' party. They probably think they are soooo funny....

But yes we are starting to toe the line of appropriate political talk, so let's change topic. Who is enjoying this amazing sunny day! In November no less!!

Oh and I hit up fleet farm on my lunch. I am now permitted to poke a hole in a deer. Looking forward to the experience. Won't say I'm excited, gives me the same feeling as butchering my chickens.... It's a serious thing....

This weather is beautiful! But it's not gonna be fun to hunt in... I like a good layer of snow on the ground so the deer really hit the food plots... Although they are always out there without snow...

I took Judy for a walk to the south pasture today. She had never been there. It is an amazing woods and she loved it. But the walk was a tad much for her. I am guessing we walked about 2 miles total.

I love this nice November weather.

Beautiful weather. Indeed.

Ralphie, the walk may have tired her a bit but hopefully it is building strength at the same time.

I think the other thread ran into trouble with difference in ideas as far as hunting. It's that time of year again. And will remind folks I am for celebrating youth activities. If that includes hunting and fishing, it is welcome here.

FYI- ALL
drug resistant bacteria is something we all need to be concerned with:

Story at-a-glance -

  • Bacteria can quickly develop extreme resistance to antibiotics, surviving antibiotics at a dose 1,000 times higher than they could initially survive in a matter of 11 days
  • Application of manure from swine CAFOs can spread drug-resistant bacteria and other viral pathogens into watersheds, thereby threatening human health. Drug-resistant CAFO bacteria are also spread by winds
  • Tens of thousands of illnesses and deaths from drug-resistant infections go uncounted as federal and state agencies do not systematically track them. This suggests the problem is FAR greater than currently thought

I tried an experiment today on my trip to Monticello. I place 4 eggs 2 brown, one green and one blue on the bumper of the truck. Then took off for Monticello. I discovered color does not make a difference on the eggs holding ability. I should have never told the WWD I did this. She is being merciless. I am even telling her it is not a good sign for her. It means I might have dementia and she will be changing my diapers before she knows it.. That has not slowed her yakking about the eggs on the bumper a whole lot....

I've always wondered about holding ability.....

I'll be heading north tomorrow for a weekend of successful hunting.....hopefully. A little snow on the ground is nice as I can see tracks and deer better. I may have to actually pay closer attention now. Good luck to everyone hunting!

Good luck hunting, I suggest a blaze orange bikini so you do not become over heated...

On our walk today, I found a couple scraps and one spot where a couple bucks had a little tussle. Still not enough to make me want to hunt them though. I guess I have just gotten to old.

BTW if you get near Togo stop and check the cabin for me. Make sure the mice have enough food to make it over the winter.
