Surviving Minnesota!

For the record any cat I get will be an outdoor cat. He will live in the barn. His job is to catch mine and chipmunks.

Also I did not change my mind on ducks, some unscrupulous member of BYC went to a moderator and bribed them to change my title. Yes, there is corruption here too! ( I think they work for the Clinton Foundation)......

actually it was funny, but trust me I would never say " I love ducks". I would choke on the words and pass out from lack of 02.
These are both outside cats! They catch ALOT of chipmunks, squirrels and mice!

I was surprised to see that you of all people said that and figured it was a joke!

She is a BEAUTIFUL Pekin! She would make a great addition to your flock! I will get pics of her!

Good morning everyone! Thank gosh for time change! I can see now in the morning!!
Everyone was doing good this morning, except my overweight pekin. He is so naturally overweight it's ridiculous he can't even get into the coop now!!

I also saw this.. This is horrible. There's no proof that the pipeline is going in burial grounds so why do they have to do this!?

I have decided to become more accountant like in my chicken operation.

I might need some help though as I do not understand the science of large numbers.

I topped the layers feed off yesterday morning. I re-topped it off this morning.

They ate approximately $8 worth of feed.

At the same time I picked 8 eggs out of the nests. Now we sell eggs for $2,50 a dozen here.

Could someone do the math for me,

I would like to know when I will gross my first million... .

Also I want to know when I will net my first million.

Do you think I should figure the cost of electricity or other expenses into the formula?

Will this make much of a difference?

Thanks

But Ralphie - how many chickens ate how many pounds of feed? Those would be necessary numbers to have.

I want your duck, Holm! Now THERES an excuse to come to Minnesota! Gosh, the Minnesota thread is so much more exciting than the Virginia thread......the most exciting conversations we have are whether or not white chickens are pretty. I think its because of Ralphie. :gig

Okay - now that i have caught up with four days of reading and know what you all are doing - deer hunting for the most part - congrats to everyone one of you that have venison to put into your freezer. The weather was beautiful but not so much for hunting deer.

I did alot of outdoor work and am still paying the price for it. Lots of aspirn and Advil PM. Sleepless nights because I am in pain. It is tough getting older and so therefore, I am more determined to STOP adding more to my lists of thoughts about - wouldn't it be nice to put strawberries in this place? What about hunting for those mushrooms? Oh! and I could take down that hedge around the garden and put in all blueberry plants for a hedge (which is probably a pretty good idea.)
Take good care of what I have and forget about creating more work to do.

Enjoyed the weather so much. Extended the outdoor run on my coop. Should have done it that way in the first place. So much more room. Decided to move the three hens in the small coop back in with the main flock. After everyone gets dusted again. Then I have only one source of water to keep from freezing. It is a little bit (not alot) of an overload in that covered run but a couple extra nesting boxes and the extra run space will accomodate them nicely I believe. Keep them all warm with their body heat. I may decide not to use excess heat at all this year. Gotta grease Reggie's HUGE comb.

Those are my thoughts for now. Good morning and Good day Chickeners . . . . . . .
