Surviving Minnesota!

He only had a chance to fight with the other Yokohamas.. I have one that was so bad I threw him into the [pen with the LARGE roosters and 30 guineas . He holds his own but does not fight. I love the looks of them, but having to keep roosters in individual cages is a PITA. I have 2 cockerels and 2 pullets in the cage now. I am thinking I might have one too many roosters in there. I have another in a cage by himself, and the one in the guinea gulag.

Fufu's are not fun to raise. The Polish are bat poop crazy. The Yokohamas just want to fight. The only good ones are the Applitinnies. They are so mellow and sweet.

I am glad you have the SS tamed down. He was always friendly then turned overnight into a bellybutton. I was tired of Bellybuttons.

I finally have an animal that likes me better than Judy! My little SS pullet, I opened the cage to water her and she jumped on my arm and sat there like a Falcon during a hunt. She did not want to get off me. Judy thought it was so cute she wanted to have it sit on her arm.

She refused to stay on Judy. She would fight her and jump to me. She would just sit on my arm or shoulder and "chicken purr". The CLB pullet is in the same cage as her, the CLB just wants to be held, not roost on me. Judy was kind of hurt the pullet did not like her. But I was happy to have something like me more than her. It seldom happens, even though I am the nicer person..

We did Rooster Caps 2.0 today.

They are better, but the roosters can remove them. I think we need to put a tie under the head.
You need to figure out some kind of little ear flaps to go down over their wattles.

A word from one of your elders....Do not waste your time or energy being angry over this "rumor".   Having served on a school board I can tell you the hiring of coaches is a PITA and seldom is as straight forward as you would think it should be. There are union considerations, logistical items ( which means road blocks to what makes sense). and a ton of other things at play.

Vent all you want, but just do your best with what you have. In 10 years how good or bad your team did in VB will make about as much difference as what you had for breakfast today does.

If you want to look long term, I suggest my other saying, Which I am self censoring as to not offend Jerry......

"In 100 years who will really give a Poop about it"

If people will care in 100 years, then it is worth worrying about....

Its not a rumor, its from a member of the school board, who has a kid in VB. And honestly Volleyball is my way into college which I why I care so much, and you need a winning team for scouts to even come and watch and our team has only won 3-4 games out of at least 40 in the last 3 years.. Our current Varsity coach has probably won less then 15 games in her coaching career.
The parents are having a meeting in the next week. I know that getting a new coach is a lot of work etc, but all the parents are for it. Our school board also just hired 4 new coaches this year and "fired" 3 so I think people are finally realizing that we us kids have the potential but not the coaches. If the vb thing goes through we will have all new head coaches in every sport next year...

Not sure where you live erl, but Anoka Ramsey Farm & Garden has pullets and quite a few 6-8 wk birds. I was there a few days back and saw Welsummers, EE's, Cuckoo Marans, SS, and CW's. I think they have some Brown Leghorns running around, too. That's just what I can see. They have some chicks as well - RIR's and White Leghorns.

They also have older pullets and laying hens in the outbuilding to the right of the main building, I went through there yesterday, There were all kinds. You could call them and see what they have.

Love it!

Morning..

The day is starting badly...

I may have to divorce Judy today. I went to make Johnny Cake for breakfast, I had a craving, and we have no corn meal! I did find a box of grits, but no one in there right mind eats that stuff.

So instead of nice hot Johnny Cake drenched in milk I am having a bagel for breakfast. I cannot allow this to go on!

Morning . Ralphie did you at least do the coffee right ?

The coffee was not bad, I am going for the second cup now..

But with the Keureg it is hard to get it wrong.

I was looking at Partridge Chanticler things. So I did not notice you post Jerry, sorry. I am trying top decide who I want to breed to next year. And which hens I will keep and which ones become layer flock.

Same as on the SS. Such hard choices. I think I need you to come here and tell me which ones to use...
