Surviving Minnesota!

Can you switch it to a digital thermostat? I have one to go into one of my 1202's, I hope in next few weeks.

I would like to put them in all of them, BUT Judy is holding the purse strings a little tight... She knows I am building a new hatching and brooding room....and am buying a couple more incubators so she is not letting me upgrade the old ones very fast..

I got 15 bags of chips at Fleetfarm yesterday, it is all I could get in the van with the other stuff I had in there.

I should have pulled a trailer and gotten 50 more.
There is a real cheap option out there . Like $12 . I have one . Hard to understand the directions and hard to get the wires to stay in the clamps . Best to use thermostat wire . The small solid wire . The multistrand is hard to keep clamped . Chinese made like most things and translated directions are not that good .

I have seen those for around 12 bucks and wondered if they would work. The one I have I paid over 100 for it. It is suppose to hold to with0.05 degrees. Time will tell, the one 1202 I have has a bad primary someone prior to my getting it regulated on the rear thermostat. I did not realize that until the end of the season. Which is why I got the new one.

Those that GQF sell are not very good . I have had 2 versions . Wafers worked better . They may have a better version now . The rocker switches moved the temp 1.5 degrees . Could not fine tune it .

I stock up on stuff every time I see Smith Poultry Supply at the swaps. I have to dig through my dresser in the chick room, but I know I have more spare wafers. Another project to tackle tomorrow.... I've seen those digital ones too but not even sure how to hook it up on these old buggers. I'm too chicken to rewire stuff and pay my electrician to come over. At least he also raises birds and is familiar with these old redwoods. I've often thought about buying a newer GQF or Brinsea, but they just don't seem as reliable when it comes to the touchier stuff like peafowl eggs.

From our ride on Friday

The only problem with bad knees when riding is when I stop, I usually do this^^

The older incubators all broke the connection on the positive hot wire (black) . These newer ones break connection on the neutral wire (white) . My old sportsman I had to rewire for the newer switches . Made my head hurt . I figured it out .

Ralphie I have been researching kiln drying lumber . Solar seems good but I am concerned about temp . Toying with the idea of using one of these controllers to get the 160 degrees I want . Kills mold bugs ect . I can reach the 8 percent target in a heated building here (think basement) but still want to finish at 160 degrees . At the lake I will need a kiln . I think solar with some added heat source if the sun does not get it hot enough . Still have not got the sawmill . Not sure if they will send a shipped notice .

Cloudy here today . Not motivated much . Think I will work on the firewood or maybe clean a couple of chickens for supper .
