Surviving Minnesota!

Interstate is closed, closed about 15 minutes ago. My dad was headed to Dickinson to go talk to accountant. Hopefully he can make it home on Old 10.

You don't have to have class technically, at my old school we'd just watch movies

.
I don't remember the percentage but my old school of 31 kids had one day when my dad, the school board president, said anyone willing to come can come, hoping that enough kids would come. There were 12 of us, and it counted

we just watched movies.
I know that 2/3 of our school is town kids. The rest of us live out of town.

If that is the case and a day of watching movies counts the system is badly flawed.

Well Wind and Snow here. Last night at about 4:30 it was white out and then Slush which then froze onto the highway. I dislike the warm to cold bit. Just because of the icy roads. Let it be cold, let it snow....let it be easy to get off the highways.

I have water coming out of the fixtures in my new bathroom. woot! My GF outlet needs power and a breaker set up however. FIL is going to fix this. The vanity top from Menards turned out not to be such a great deal. It is black granite and the drain hole was not large enough for the fixtures and hardware for the drain. Sooooo.... I had to hire the local granite guy to come out with his diamond grinding tool and make that hole bigger. It was $100 to do this. 1 hour shop time. I did not like that price. That Vanity that I thought I piece-mealed together in a cheaper do-it-yourselfer way is starting to really cost me coin. But I guess I got the look that I wanted. Which I could not find anywhere else. The Fan-Light combo also needs to be dropped a bit so as to allow the light face to fit over the drop ceiling. PITA stuff...PITA...

Yesterday I threw some scratch out as the flock walked up to the house. The little Wellie pullet though...himmed and hawed down at the coop. When the rooster finally came up and she was left alone...she burst from the coop in full flight 200 feet to the house and landed on the landscaping boulder retaining wall. She does not like snow...apparently.

Even though I shoveled a nice grassy path for them all. LOL. Patsy. She must not have seen it. I went down the landscaping to pick her freaked out fluffy butt off the Rocks. I set her feet down in the snow with scratch all around. Everbody ate and she just looked at her feet in the snow. Oh...I laughed. She finally followed the last bird back to the coop after the scratch was gone. On the grassy path....

They are comical.

O M Gosh! I am in this conversation totally and now I realize that I have not greeted you yet today.

Good Morning Chickeners . . . .

Snow, wind, cold, Minnesota. Its nice to be homw in gud ole Minni-sota. Winter has arrived. I am going to go the ice buckets out so I can make that thar outdoor Christmas decoration that someone - BT? Coffee? someone posted last year. I made two up in Aitkin just to try them out and they were pretty cool. I will take pictures when they are up and working so the rest of you can see them - again.

Took homemade dog food out to the flock this a.m. and everyone chowed on that. I will be checking my flock often today because . . . . they are MY flock!

Ralphie - checking my list of acronyms and toad is not on it. Please . . .

What does toad mean again? And there is one more I will ask about and add to the list. I just dunno which acronym it is right now.

Welcome Home Ivie. Your chickens have missed you!!! LOL. Spoiling going on already.... Love it! I wish I was home spoiling right now...sitting on a bale in those quilted carhartts.... sounds nice.

I made the Ice Bucket candelabras last year. I have it in my head that I need to fill those buckets tonight too. We're on the same wavelength. Thinking of that stuff this morning I have. Maybe I'll even do it today over lunch hour. Get 'em going. I need 6 of them.

Good morning all :) I am late on today as well and I had to read all the posts first. The red cross kept harassing me so I finally went in this morning and donated blood. The side roads are so lumpy and frozen now, yesterday was pretty nice, well actually last night was warmer than yesterday and definitely warmer than today
