Surviving Minnesota!

There's a total of 18 people NPIP certified in North Dakota since September 2016. I should become certified to make that 19

Myth or Fact
To become NPIP certified can your birds free range?

Ivie: This is the best Hen Saddle I've seen to date. Check this out:

I just spent 2 hours in my carhartts. With the Chickens. Do not think less of me chickeneers, but I was not a good girl scout this fall and have just now plugged in the electric cords and battened down the plastic that the last winter storm tore apart. New plastic on the run...just makes all the difference in the world for those birds. That run just got a whole lot cozier. I moved the water to my plug in --in the coop. It had been in the run the whole time. switching it out with another waterer each day had been working well with temps in the 30's. Even when it went down to some 20's at night. I just take off the little crusts of ice or switch. Well Old Man Winter has reared his ugly face out there...and its cold. So the procrastinator that I am I just took my lunch hour and then some to get situated again. Depoop-piled a bit....Fresh shavings on top of the older ones. Filled the feeder... Comfy Cozy in there. Let the winter winds blow.

I love the saying on the hen saddle,

lvie, I have one in full molt too. I turned on their heater in the henhouse and a light in the run. I hate when they molt in december and january.

BTC, love the candle holders, I remember them from last year, just gorgeous!

Thanks Cluckies. I've been missing your posts. Are you still busy at work? Well I'm glad you are here now. Everybody had a pretty easy molt here at my house this fall. I will say that I get hard nosed with just feed and meat treats. Pretty much no scratch during that time. The blrw slowed Way down this fall during hers though. The feathers are in but she seems slow still. I should do a pest check on her... Check her feet over, etc. she's picking up a little bit but she almost seems not herself...?

Brrrrr cold and blustery at lockup. The hens were all rooster and purring away in their nice warm shed. I'm quite happy with the new accommodations. Weatherman says -2 with windchill here.

Everybody is locked up and snug as a bug!

Gonna get these two in separate cages tomorrow but I'll end up feeling bad so they'll probably stay together

As you can also see it looks like HeiHei got beat up through the fence.

ETA I decided to name the female " Luna"

Good idea, make sure to check her leg scales, might be scaly leg mites. You can't see them, but it can really affect them and slow them down.
Yep, still busy at work, been getting up at 3 instead of 4 to get extra time in. Only a couple of weeks left.
Try and stay warm eveyone!

Brrrrrrr indeed! Today is making me wish Inhad remote start on my truck!! I am grateful for the garage parking at least.

I was amazed when some of my hens came right outside when I opened the pop door this morning. I figured they would lay low again
