Surviving Minnesota!

your lumber mill went that well, eh?
Well sort of . She got all the details out of me before it was delivered . Seems I hurt her feelings . Silent treatment now . Who knows what after that . I knew I would have to weather a storm . Delivered it about 2 . So I got to work on it a couple of hours . They say 2 days to assemble . I think 3-4 days . Not going to be the best weather to test it next week . They lube / cool the blade with water . I guess antifreeze in cold weather . Lots to learn .

Cluckies, that is humorous about the lady at the counter of the Swedish store. The implication being closely related to Neanderthal man? That however can not be applied to me as I am part German, and as Ralphie will attest I am sure bear a striking resemblance to Einstein.

Layers, we may be burning Ash here soon. With the infestation of the Emerald Ash Borer all of the Ash trees are going to die.

Add some liquid "dawn" or dish soap to the water. it will help remove pitch and dirt from the blade and extend it's life.

You did better than I would. I would have been praying for silence.

I think my DNR buddy told me it was south of Brainerd now but creeping north yearly. I know I worry every time I see a dead one. Most of the time I find Sasquatch just relieved himself on the tree. For some reason Sasquatch urine is deadly to ash trees.

I have that picture of your brother and you so people can see what you look like.

My moms trying to convince me to go to SD for a few days for a Christmas with my 2 younger cousins and aunt and uncle. I keep telling her no, mainly cause of chores, and they got a black lab in August or so, my uncle hauls for Swift so he's only home every 2 weeks or so so I know the dogs had no reprimanding. And I don't tolerate untrained dogs it usually ends up with me holding a dogs mouth shut or giving it a slap on the snout after it jumps up on me, or bites me while trying to play. And then angry owners because I was 'to harsh' on the dog.
If they ever bring there dog out here though, there will be hll to pay with me though. No more dogs out here after my grandma brought her spaniel and it killed 4 pullets, she then blamed it on my sister who was 9 at the time, even though she knew she wasn't supposed to let the dog off the leash or unattended. Only dogs allowed is the guy I go hunting with since she's well trained and doesn't care, and my aunt and uncles 2 dogs, since they're accustomed to chickens.

I mean hey I don't know anything about training big dogs though.

When my cousin from Bismarck and her mom came to get ducklings they brought their lab out to see if he would tolerate them, he grabbed one, my cousin and I both got to him I gave him a sharp slap on the bridge of nose. My cousins mom sort of raised her voice at us and said we just have to tell him no, but do you really think that's going to stop a dog from eating a duckling! He's never touched a bird since.

I have purposely waited to answer this. I am sure my first response would not sit well with you, and this one might not either.

I think it is great you love and take care of your animals. You are so very lucky to be growing up on a farm/ranch in Nodak. Just living there should help keep you grounded in your life.

That said I pick up a theme I find disturbing in many of your posts. You are also lucky I am not your father. No 15 year old kid of mine would ever dare think they could make the rules around the household. I would not be a tyrant, however some things were not up for discussion, and if I wanted you to go to your uncles for Christmas that is where you would be going.

My wife and I had one rule with our kids when they were growing up. It was simple 'It's our house and until your 18 and move out on your own it's our rules".

BTW this continued after they were 18, as long as my hard earned money was supporting them, I had a say in what they did.

My older sister is angry at me and my dad right now because he made her bring her mucks to school since she was wearing Converse, and he's fine with me wearing my cowboy boots and wool socks

.
And then we got into the school from off the bus and she was like I don't get why he thinks cowboy boots is much better then converse
