Surviving Minnesota!

1000

Got my "little" birds in bedand am going to get their pen set up after church tomorrow. Ralphie I never got pics of the hens yet but am gonna get lots tomorrow!

Morning . Feeling a little better . Been taking oscillococcinum a over the counter that shortens duration and severity . It works . I had forgot about this . DW remembered . You take for 3 days . Best if you start it at first signs .

Went to a wild game feed yesterday . Nothing too unusual. They did have BBQ beaver . A lot like beef I thought . Had it last year also . Hey on the starling problem . Someone makes a 5' x 5' cage trap . I saw it in farm show magazine once . The top is split so you lower the halves a little in the middle . Makes a V and they go in and most can not find their way out . Maybe I can find a link to it .

Ok for do it yourself plans go to youtube and look up how to build a ladder trap .

Morning Jerry.

What do u do when u catch the birds? Gas them? Drown them? We use to drown squirrels and chipmunks when my grandpa lived by the lake. But they don't chew his bird feeders here.

Glad your feeling better Jerry.

Morning.

I forgot to mention I had a dead Toad yesterday. I opened the door to the toad coop to show them to MnCHickMom and family and there was a dead toad on the floor. Scared me.

I said " What the" Jumped into the coop and touched the dead toad and she became an undead toad.

Why to chickens think it is so fun to scare the bejesus out of us with their sand baths?

Well since you asked . Remember you asked . I just pull their heads until the neck separates . Then toss them to the beagles to eat raw . You can also microwave in a old unit for picky dog or boil in a large pot on the turkey burner . I waste nothing . Never have many at one time as they only get in when snow covers the ground . Never made a trap for them .

I guess that works lol! We shoot sparrows and just feed them to the cats as there are no dogs on the farm. I have never seen a starling here so that's good.
