Surviving Minnesota!

The sub zero temps have brought return to the frozen cracked eggs this morning.

14 cracked.
8 not crack bur most likely dead
1 eating egg.

-13 this morning in Lovely Longville, folks. Gross.
I left chickens in their 5 degree coop. topped off feed. Chiseled waterer. Added shavings to the wet poop pavers that have refroze to the floor of my coop to make their feet comfy. I never got out that bedding when it was wet and now it's just like cement stuck in there. Yes....looking forward to the warm up and I believe a coop clean out. And Boy do 10 birds ever make some poop right now. I'm filling up feed bags of the stuff. Time to warm up now that it's February and get some grass showing, etc etc etc. I'm done with winter.

Lymph nodes are down but not before some popped (Im sure) I have knots of tenderness on that side of my face. Like somebody hit me. I must have massaged too hard or something. At any rate after a night of ice and ibuprofen and a good night's sleep it's better but just those lumps.

Ralphie: We had on our farm a million years ago an orange tabby Matriarch named Pepper. She spit out more kittens than I care to know in my short 10 years on the farm. But she was always there and us girls would call her "Momma Kitty" too. LOL. Just putting in a name option of Pepper from ole BC.

Ahhh good Memories. I love the little Gray boy too. Do you have them boxed up a bit until they get used to you? And so they'll stay on? I'm not sure how it works with cat transplanting...

Jerry that's a long time to be on on Azythromycin. It's a total body bomb. There's only one more antibiotic above that and then there's no more. But I'm sure you needed it badly for that toxoplasmosis. Serious stuff, huh?

Oh the chick pics....I'm dying here...

Ok I am bored . Still snowing . Couple of cold days in store then a warm up . I hope DW does not need to go anywhere . Then I can let the drive self clean . Not sure if I shared my preference for pink tomatoes . Best tasting . Brandywine has won a lot of taste tests . Really most pink ones are really tasty . The seed I planted is a accidental creation . A pink large cherry or at least it was when I saved the seed . Probably Brandywine and a Compari or Sapori type cherry that DW buys in the winter . Since red is dominate last years were F2 to get pink skin . Just a volunteer that I let live . See what I get this year . I saved some Better Boy seed so may plant some just to see what they throw . Might be some pink ones . Big boy is a red x pink hybrid so maybe Better Boy is also . I also like Great White beefsteak . Best white I have tried .
