Surviving Minnesota!

Could be,

I moved a bunch of birds in the last couple days, I am trying to figure out who my egg eaters are. I thought I had it. BUT I did not get any eggs from 5 SS hens so I am guessing I did not get it.

I moved Cuddles (the rooster) into the cage with them.   I decided to feed them some treats, I use cat food stuff that looks like hamburger.   The hens all came over and were trying to get it out of my hand. Cuddles was right there grabbing the burger threads like crazy.  The cuddles would turn and drop it in front of different hens.

He never ate it just gave it to the hens.  If he would have moved away they could have all gotten in and taken it from me.

Stupid birds.

Ah, but then his ladies wouldn't think he was the awesome food-finding rooster....

I'm getting 3 new cochins! Can't wait til they get here. Took over 2 hours of talking

Rhetts, congratulations on the new baby.  Sorry to read about the medical problems as there is nothing worse in life than having a child in peril !!

On another medical note, I do not get flu shots and advise all to consult with their Dr. seriously before having one.  In 1978 my FIL got the swine flu shot and ended up with Guiombre(sp), which is a debilitating illness that results in near paralysis.  Some recover and some do not.  My FIL was in hospital and home bedridden for many months but recovered fully.  He is now 86, but until a month ago would be mistaken for a man 20 years younger.  He did not get any more flu shots until a month ago.  He is now in hospital with Shingles and Guiombre and seems to have aged 20 years in a months time.  Why he got the shot is beyond me ?  I will never get one.

Edit to correct:  Guillain-Barre Syndrone

There is a questionnaire that all patients got when I worked at the clinic before they got a flu shot and that was if they or a family member had a history of Guillain-barre Syndrome. And then patients initialed and signed the form. Either a nurse was not getting all her questions and paper work in or he forgot the name. Poor guy.

Rhetts I send congratulations to you on your Norah. I'm sue she is a blessing in so many ways. May God's hand rest upon your family and give you guidance and love through this time. Sounds like you are ready to deal with all bumps in the road. It's a good way to be.

And your Hairy Coos.... lots of fun there!

Ralph : I can't take meat birds. My heart could not do it I don't think. The one bad day. I'm sure they are loves and friendly too.

Yesterday I was up in Bogtown for my birthday. Up at the folks'. Kids love it up there. Grandpa makes 'em laugh plus they have Wifi... lol.

Today 5 good friends and I went to a certain movie. It was pretty good and we definitely squirmed in our seats. Haha.

Still getting eggs from the Ameraucans and BLRW. Blue green egg cartons with brown eggs. Love it.

Morning . Yesterday was a nice sunny day . 25 MPH wind kind of spoiled it but hey it was sunny . Fired up the log splitter and split some of the round pieces .

Good morning to all.

Ralphie, there is an item posted on the Duluth Craigslist today in the Farm and Garden section that would be right up your ally. I was tempted by it myself, but think the little woman here would not be amused by it.

Good morning fellas. I need to run out to the coop yet. DH's truck needed a jump this morning because he hadn't started it for 3 days and still has a plow hooked on it which I'm sure slow-drains it. And DS forgot his BB bag. Notice right as he got on the bus and that awesome bus driver waited at the end of a county road nearby while I ran and got it! Need to pick up something for him as thanks. Or maybe a carton of beautiful brown and blue eggs.

Monday's!

I am back inside It's hard to believe I spent over 2 hours with the birds this morning. it went so fast.

There was no need to worry, about half the chicks were in the cold area eating when I got there. it was a cozy 60 degrees inside their house. I actually think it is warmer I have the probe right by the door.

I cleaned the coffin so it is ready for the next batch today.

EJB I will have to look, I hope I can find the item.

I have another barn rooster. I let Ed out of his cage to wander the barn. Ed and Bert met, I thought there might be a fight. There wasn't they are both equal wimps. Bert did run at one point when Ed went to eat next to Bert. Ed had the " What did I do look?" In case you do not know the look, it is the one us husbands give our wives most of the time when they 'raise their voices a tad at us".
