Surviving Minnesota!

I have a sister that lives in Billings, MT ....she does oodles of fly fishing with her beau. I would like to "SURPRISE" them with chooks that will be most suitable for tying flies with. Anybody have any advice for me on breeds? I've done quite a bit of research already (there are specific hackle breeds that I am not going to sell a kidney to raise the $$ needed....and I guess I didn't really find any threads around here that really pointed in a good direction for me) @duluthralphie
I may have had alternative motives when I asked you for pics of your Yoka's the other week :yiipchick ...have any roosters you want to part with? And deliver to SW ND :love   I will be doing the buying raising harvesting etc etc so just tryin to get some lists going. I am a list-er. You think any rooster with longer saddle feathers would work....??? ....??

I've got some that would work. Really pretty roos also.

I have the perfect Yokie for you. He is absolutely no good for anything. He is a back up to my back up rooster. I put him in the pen with the young Guineas last year because he was so mean. He holds his own with guineas. That should tell you mean he is.

He is a little runt too. His tail feathers come off his back at 87.6 degrees. .....The only he has going for him is a nice small walnut comb, I thought about breeding to him for the comb, but too many other things are wrong with him, besides he is a jerk,,,

I happen to know where there is a Yokie Rooster that is not a jerk if I really needed a back up to my back up....

I found my egg eaters I think, in the SS pen. I have the two out of the pen that went to New Ulm and I 4 eggs today, one from each of the girls in there. They were just sitting in the nest box waiting for me to pick them up.

I also got an egg from the one Dom hen not in the rollaway cage and it also was sitting in the nest, with the rooster and her both in the cage.

Again, it was a hen I took to New Ulm! I think the starling down there drove the hens nuts.

I was hoping he would look like this guy!!!! Is the first rooster the same rooster in the other photos? Or are they two, or three, different birds ? I have to ask.....what would you want for a price for the little poophead exiled to Guinea-land?
