The ones I have, I have for eggs. Then I run an old hens retirement center for the ones that have done me good. (I even make my husband dispatch them. I'm such a softy for my egg layers) Yeah - I can totally see why she is still around- good lookin hen!I noted the buckeye had foamy eyes again today. With the barometric pressure changes this happens to her. It's so weird. But was 4/4 on eggs so not complaining.
Ralphie yes to antibiotic to treat reproductive issues. Sometimes the damage is done already when the first symptoms show-- scarred off tube-- and the hen has fought the bacteria on her own. I think with those infections you go right for the big guns-- baytril. I personally have not been one to treat it. baytril is $50 for a hen's dosing from the rip off vet in town. But if EMoricals birds are on the pet spectrum that would be the treatment. And I wouldn't blame her a bit. As I've obviously considered and researched it. But I'm sure I was too late anyways. That's the difficulty with it.
My marigold has fought it off. She laid eggs for one year. Was weird and squatty for a week and never an egg thereafter. She will be 5 in June. I can't whack her because she's an original and I love her coloring.

Hmmm I just blew the photo up, maybe not the same. I'd still post it. Either there, or start your own thread in that forumn. Chances are, someone has seen it. It actually looks familiar to me, but don't remember where I've seen a photo like it.
