Surviving Minnesota!

Feeding natural grains ( non GMO is for yuppies) as opposed to pellets or crumbles will result in droppings which are more firm. The processed feeds do have additional nutrients which is difficult to duplicate with natural grains. I do like Fleet Farm Whole Flock Pellets. The nutrient quality is very good in relation to price.
During what I determine to be the breeding period for my birds I do like to feed Game Bird Breeder pellets. I like the protein level and the added animal nutrient.

I saw Carharts on sale at ff the other day for 62 and some change, but only the red ones(different style). I may go look again today. Not real keen on the red though..

BC and lvie. Does this model cover your butt? Or leave it in the breeze...[/quote ]

No Cluckies it doesn't cover the butt.

Thank you Ed for your feed insight. I'm making some changes next time it looks like. And destiny I'm going to try the berries and nut additions. Birds will love it no doubt.

-6 here this Am. But a warm up coming. My light bulb went out in the cookie tin heater sometime yesterday. Thirsty birdies today.

FYI for anyone who cares I am in complete and utter contempt for graduate school at the moment. I was up until 1 am trying to do the simplest thing but putting it into their required form is a PITA! Still finishing this morning!

What form do they require? Some of those forms the Profs make no sense, it seems the form is more important than the content.

Well - Good Morning Chickeners . . . . I read the comments before I post in the a.m. It seems to be becoming a habit. They are building a FF in Monticello. I don't know that much about FF - the other closest is in Osseo and I don't usually trapse through that territory. And yes, b r r r r r . . . . Its coming - March 21st SPRING and by that time I declare we will be completely done with this cold up and down weather and onto the spring warming trend! Until December first. That is eight months of nice. I am ambitious to dive into projects around here this year. That is not true every year. I wonder IF this highway will ever slow down - well, it is only 50 mph now. There are people (kids on bikes included) on it walking all the time. They are putting in a walking path this spring. I would think that means a couple of stop signs along it also. I hope, I hope, I hope. Its a busy main artery into Big Lake and out to Ralphie's (humor).

Just some thoughts.

Stay inside again today. Clean, Laundry - you know, all the fun stuff that lasts a couple of days if you do not have kids. Yipee. I will check back in a while.

All of the chicks are doing good, and all the other birds. The cochins are all coming along quite quickly in terms of handling, the blue pullet is looking nicer everyday. The SF still had to release livestock dates and I'm waiting for them to, checking every day. I'm thinking of possibly seeing if I could bring some birds to Hutch, since that's one of the closest actual shows. I'm Hoping to set some Cochin eggs this weekend probably only 4, but that's better then nothing.

I bought some LF silver Ameraucana hatching eggs yesterday . Shipped . Kind of pricey . Guess I need to charge more . Legbars do not sell well for me . They will probably dwindle away . Not wanting to sell and deal with people yet this year .
