Surviving Minnesota!

Our power just came on about 20 min ago. It was out since 5pm. We were not home and had power in Oklee so did not know until we were done in Oklee. My heart is pretty sad because I have the eggs that I just set Sunday night. It said it was 76.6 in there when I got home. I threw some hunting hand warmers in the on top of the eggs and then the power came on 20 min after I thought of that. Took me a while to think of what to do. Now this happened with out last hatch at about day 14 when our DD stuck something in the outlet and tripped the power upstairs and I did not know about it until hours later. The Inncubator had gotten into the 70s then also. 9/11 hatched so there is some hope. I just am not sure when they have been set for less than 48 hours when the power went out. I certainly hope all is not lost. Give me and Ralphie some hope! I was setting TOAD eggs!

They should be ok. I hatched all of a ducks eggs rhag were outside for 18 hours and rained on. The wind is horrible though.. I'm not looking forward to repairing roof and windows

2 cars blown of the interstate and at least 1 toilet paper semi flipped. It could be a lot worse though, like the blizzard of '66...

Went into the pole barn this morning and ran into a chipmunk . For a moment I thought it was a rat . Scared me and the chipmunk . :gig Well I   did some yard work then against my better judgement I set up some of the low pressure water system . Then decided to mill the log I had loaded on the mill a few days ago . 8 foot . I got 12 1x12 a 2 x 12 and a couple of flitch boards  ( live edge ) I can get something out of those . Maybe 1x6 or 1x4 .

Hahaha!

Weather is nasty... GLAD WE GOT OUR NEW DOG HOME BEFORE IT GOT THIS NASTY! :ya

Congrats oh the new puppy! Woot woot!

I agree on this wind! Terrible!

Our power went out as well yesterday, not sure how long though, at least 1 hour, up to several. That is 2 nights in a row that I barely got any sleep, house creaking and groaning. Wind howling. Yesterday after work when I got home that wind sounded like a freight train, unreal!

Well, i'm positive it is feather picking. But I've not seen anyone do it. My girls, 3 of 5, look like crap. I think it is Fi. About 4 or 5 weeks ago I switched to a "yuppy froo froo feed" (Ejb calls it something like that) whole grain, blah blah... well, Fi must not have been getting the nutrition she needs (she is my only one laying right now) I switched back a couple of days ago and also wormed them all with valbazen, as they are very skinny but eat like crazy. Hopefully this helps. These girls are driving me batty!

Saw something I've never seen today... A snowplow pushing trees and big branches off of the road... Fabulous! Thank you snowplow person!

You use "Yuppy Froo froo feed"? I thought you would use the Marties stuff. I hope your feather pulling comes to an end.

The wind was terrible, I did not lose power yesterday, but our garbage can was empty because of it being pick up day. I will be playing "hunt for the lost garbage" can today. It appears the wind will be no better today.

I candled and placed eggs in the hatcher yesterday. Not one toad or turkey egg was fertile. Good Luck on yours Momof5million.. I doubt two hours of no power will affect them much this early in the incubation.

I need to pick up feed today. I will be going to Monticello. They did not have the game breeder in Elk River the other day. Another day of frozen eggs ahead of us.

I took some pictures the other day of a pair of my Doms, for a guy on the Dom thread that had never seen or heard of Urch Dominiques.....

I think he was looking down at them because he had not heard of them.

These two are a 11 months old.

Morning . Windy here yesterday but sunny . SIL had no power for a few hours . Wind was blowing sawdust to me so I put on goggles and kept sawing . Got about 450 board feet cut .

Ralphie, those are pretty nice looking Dominique's I think, although I have little experience with them. Jerry, good to read that you are making progress and gaining experience with the lumber production. I would like the boards in that unattended pile in Minnesota to be top quality.
Holm, it is nice you could rehome that dog. Who will be in charge of obedience training? I mean for the dog.

It has been Windy here for two days and there is some damage but nothing too serious. The free ranging hens did not blow away yesterday, but they did get their feathers ruffled.

Good morning everyone.

Momof3+2 good luck on the eggs.

Congrats on the new dog Holm.

The Doms do look really good ralphie.

I don't like wind.

Jerry you should wear the goggles, I think of that more now that I'm down to one eye.
